Twelve songs aimed toward the younger pop fans.A couple of novelty cuts include the down right silly "Gonna Buy Me A Dog"(a different version than what I remember)and "Pillow Time".Best tracks as far as I'm concerned are "Your Auntie Grizelda","Laugh" and the somewhat jamming "Saturday's Child".Wonder why they've never performed that song live.

This is the worst CD that the Monkees ever had. I hope this doensnt give people the wrong impression of what the Monkees were really about!

"Pillow Time," sung by Mickey Dolenz, is the best cut on the disc: a sweet, sly, jazzy tune persuading a child to sleep with visions of a "sleepy train" coming to collect them. And thus ends this terrific cd for kids. Opening with the boistress "Monkees Theme," and filled in the middle with such yummy selections as Carol King's "Your Auntie Grizelda" and Mike Nesmith's "Papa Genes's Blues," this is the perfect cd for your kids or the kid in you!

THE MONKEES-BARRELFUL OF MONKEES: MONKEES SONGS FOR KIDS!: The Pre-Fab Four were always wacky, charismatic, and yes, funny on their fast-paced TV series, so it makes sense that Kid Rhino, retro-label kings Rhino Records' small fry division, has released a roundup of Monkees tunes for tots. Several choices are delightfully demented, none more so than Mickey and Davy's call-and-response mad libs on GONNA BUY ME A DOG and the rare Peter Tork lead vocal on YOUR AUNTIE GRIZELDA (alas, his tongue-twister PETER PERCIVAL PATTERSON'S PET PIG PORKY is nowhere to be heard here). Bread head David Gates' SATURDAY'S CHILD and Mike Nesmith's countrified PAPA GENE'S BLUES sound considerably straighter, but are nifty pieces of pop craftsmanship nonetheless. Interestingly, their dreamy PORPOISE SONG appears in a solo version from the album MICKEY DOLENZ PUTS YOU TO SLEEP. Final cut PILLOW TIME may well encourage nodding off in a good "bedtime story" sort of way. Pop this CD in sometime instead of whatever soulless dance diva yer youngin's drooling to, and you might not be the only one smiling.

I thought this cd was very good considering what the Monkees were about back in the day. The songs are great for children to listen to and just have fun.

This album is good, for what it is..... The only song it was missing was Daddy's Song...... If u have a kid this may be perfect for getting them started on something great :) Buy with confidence just dont expect too much, it isn't the "White Album" just take it for what it is and u wont be disappointed.

this cd features some of the best and maybe some of the worst monkees songs ever. the theme. totally cool. gonna buy me a dog. totally funny. apples peaches bannannas and pears. ok for a monkees song. your aunrie grizelda. boring. teeny tiny gnome. boring. the rest are all great. but the only song they should have trashed is pilliow time. it is so boring about baby stuff . but its still a great asset to all there albums. get this cd today. you probely won't be dissapointed.
