The Barren Twelve is a perfect example of how an fantasy/adventure book should read. The first three chapters (and I'm not giving anything away) contains an army, magicians, trolls, griffins, elves, and a freaking dragon! VanHooser doesn't just throw them in either they are tightly wound in a set of tense opening chapters that set the frantic pace for the rest of the book. This a is a fresh new look on the fanatsy genre using the tried and true formula that has attracted fantasy nerds since the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. I never write these review things, its a book and it should be good but I seriously can't wait for the next book and hope VanHooser gets the same new found respect from other fantasy readers as he has from me now. Great Book and Fun Read!!!

To be honest, I haven't read anything that excited me in the fantasy genre in years. Everything seems to have been done before and the new efforts are flat and cliche. This book, changed that! Vanhooser's story is amazingly complex and nuanced. The characters are intense, involved, breathing people. I strongly recommend it! Vanhooser has come along at the perfect time, picking up the mantel that Robert Jordan left behind. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I honestly dont read much, but Vanhooser knows his audience well. The Barren 12 is ultimately mindblowing! Coolest author i know, and coolest book I've ever read!

The Barron Twelve is one of the top books in the fantasy genre. The adventure created in this new series is filled with action, emotion, and intrigue that are passed onto the reader as the reader follows the characters on their adventure. Vanhooser develops the characters in a way that the reader makes a personal connection and becomes part of the adventure. Vanhooser's creation of the action sequences provides the reader with a front row view. The story line keeps the reader guessing on what path the characters will take. The Barron Twelve is a well written novel with solid character development, intense action, and a story line that keeps the story moving.

This is a most read for all fantasy/action readers

I loved this book! Mr. Vanhooser is an amazing author. He has created a stunning page turner! I normally would not read fantasy, however this book held me captive. I am looking forward to reading more from Mr.Vanhooser!!

OMG! I just finished reading this book and I loved it so much I'm going to read it again. I was never into fantasy, but this book caught my attention and changed my mind. I would recommend The Barren 12 to everyone. Buy it now!

Now this is one book I would recommend to anyone! It was just super fantastic! I especially love the way it was written, dunno if I could ever read another book by any other author! You've spoiled me with this on Mr. Vanhooser!

Saw a capturing title that a friend was reading; he said "it was amazing", as a result I immediately decided to read it. I am not a book lover, but the book "Barren Twelve" changed my prospective in reading. The mysteries contained in the book was fabulous in how the author described each character with emotions. Glad I read it and definitely recommend it to everyone!! I look forward to read more of Van Hooser's future books.

The Barrent 12 is both captivating and intriguing. A definte favorite so far in this series! The plot unfolds in a manner that grabs your attention and keeps you involved. It brings the world of magic and fantasy into a synthesis of excitement and adventure that provides the reader with a wealth of enjoyment.
