4.0 out of 5 stars ESSENTIAL READING for health care providers and others, November 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Who Cares? Inst Barriers to Health Care for Lesbian,Gay & Bi (National League for Nursing Series (All Nln Titles) (Paperback)
This book is a must-read for all health care providers who "take pride in the philosophy that all persons receive equal treatment, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, religion, age, or ability to pay." it "uncovers the roots of these problems, explores how prejudices have become institutionalized, and offers viable solutions for real change." for members of the G/L/B/T community, much of this book is not going to come as a surprise, but it is still enlightening reading with a huge list of references, and draws both on hard data and narrative health care experiences from G/L/B/T folx. highly reccomended
