I AM NEVER DISAPPOINTED IN THE PREPARATION MANUALS PUBLISHED BY BARRON. MY STUDENTS TELL ME THE MATERIAL IS THE MOST CHALLENGING AND THEY FEEL WELL PREPARED WHEN THEY TAKE THE TEST. THE EXPLANATIONS PROVIDED WITH THE ANSWERS ARE VERY GOOD. I LIKE THE FACT THAT LETTERS ARE GIVEN FOR THE MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS SO THAT THE STUDENT IS ABLE TO TRY AGAIN ON THE MISSED ITEM BEFORE GOING TO THE EXPLANATION. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT RESOURCE.

We use Barrons SAT for our In-Home Tutors business but based on recommendations from our tutors have stopped using Barrons ACT. They prefer Princeton Review -- better strategy, more practice tests and examples.

Yuck! I bought this book and found it totally useless. This book is very poorly written. The questions in this book are nothing like the ones that are found on the ACT. I would recommend the McGraw-Hill series to study for the ACT.

Well, a little bit too.....,
This review is from: Barron's ACT (Paperback)
Barron's book is good. But it really ...... destroy one's confidence.
Some problems really "only". Such as in the English Part all 5 paragraphs need to be sorted. Sometimes there are two of three consequent questions asking you if a sentence needs to be omitted, realyy confusing. Some styles of questions are not appeared in this book. Some maths problems are ridiculous, which i don't think is in the High School teaching range (coz I've been a TA for Geometry teacher). Reading part is still mad me. A material is sometimes more than 100, even 110 lines, while the real prep is only 80~85. The Science part i dont wanna to have some comment coz i'm not sure but i feel some questions are double-edged. |
