This book has helped me a lot with studying for the AP Lang test on Wednesday, actually. It has a detailed multiple choice section with practice questions plus common rhetorical strategies. The essay section is great, and has tips on the different essays plus, of course, sample essays ranging from awful to amazing. It also has a lot of practice tests. I'd definitely recommend this more concise book over Princeton Review's.

The practice multiple choice tests are extremely similar, if not identical, to the real AP test in reading samples, difficulty, and overall feel. The book's scoring system is also pretty much right on. That being said, no practice book will make up for a year of hard work in your AP English Lang class- many students claim this is true for every AP test, but I think it's more true for this one than any other. This test measures skill, not ability to rehash information, so cramming simply won't work.

I'm not saying this book wouldn't be helpful, I'm just saying that it's not really needed. Most of the information is on either writing essays or the full-length practice exams. For the essays, practice makes perfect, and as for the exams, you can find those online for less money.

I had to purchase this product for my AP Lang and Comp class, and I was completely unprepared to receive this fantastic study guide- I assumed that this would be a simple workbook, but it it a great tool to help students taking this course. God bless, thanks for a superb study tool!

I can not vouch for the book but I would suggest that if you are signed up for AP Lang. & Comp. at your school you drop it right away. The class did not prepare me at all for the test. I got a 3 on the exam and there was literally only one question that I had learned from the class throughout the whole exam. ONE! It truly was a waste of time and a sorry excuse for a class. If your class is anything like mine, you'll wish you had listened to me. You can pass the test without taking the class and save yourself a lot of hassle, and this isn't just my opinion. Over 30 students at my school took the class and test and every person said the same thing I am saying here: DON'T TAKE AP LANG. & COMP.!!!! I did learn about some interesting subjects throughout the class, but they were not on the test making them useless to me. If you want nights filled with analyzing passages from two-hundred year old books, go right ahead, but it won't help you a bit on the AP test.
