Physician, heal thyself!

It's all very well for an English textbook to tell you to check your spelling and grammar. It would be much better if this book had been properly proofread and all the mistakes taken out (there are plenty already, and I'm only two days into it).
It is pretty useless as a class textbook, because all the answers are supplied in the back, so of course many in the class think it smarter to copy the answer rather than write one. Of course they're not going to get any mark worth having in the exam proper.
I really don't understand why there needs to be an American book for a British exam. Better to go to the horse's mouth and get a British textbook. Many of the "language differences" are in any case fallacious, and conversely many are missed.
