This is a great book to use if you have already taken Bio I, or AP Biology. But if you haven't already yet, then some of the topics might be a little bit hazy...

That being said, I studied out of this book furiously for 3 weeks before the exam, and got an 800. Almost all of the topics on the exam were covered in this book.

HOW DOES THIS BOOK NOT AVG 5 STARS??? THIS PREP GUIDE IS LITERALLY THE BIO BIBLE. IT CONTAINS EVERYTHING YOU --ACTUALLY-- NEED TO KNOW. I used this guide after 9th grade regular living environment. I knew nothing. I anyalized and memorized (via reading slowly) this book and went from 0 to MORE THAN MOST (99%) OF ap bio students. The steps are simple, but not that easy...

KNOW THE ENTIRE GLOSSARY (EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW IS THERE... ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR THE FIRST 20 MATCHING QUESTIONS ON THE TEST)

READ THE BOOK SLOWLY. DONT MOVE ONTO THE NEXT SENTENCE UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND THE FORMER.

1-2 CHAPTERS A WEEK. YOU ARE IN GOOD SHAPE

    OBviously the practice tests
-with the gloassary down pat, you should get atleast 700 on these (its your d** book, everything on the test is something you just read!!! Or can be inferred with an understanding of the text). Hopefully 750++... If not, you read too quickly... TERRIBLE OFFENSE... reread slowly, actively... Its not about the number of words (the # of times you read it) , it is important to think slowly with it...

I did have every other SAT II bio guide, so heed my advice.
And FYI the others are Terrible.

when my test came, i was amazed when i saw matching with an eye diagram and descriptions of anatomy... Luckily, this beautiful book stated precisely "Occasionally a diagram of the eye or ear make their way onto the subject test"... NOT ONE OTHER SAT II BOOK HAD A DESCRIPTION OF THE EYE'S ANATOMY. This would make an 800 unlikely for any other regents students who didnt use Barron's. They were fools for not choosing barons, and they paid the price (you will too if you do not choose Barron's.)

Use this properly (50+ hours of active "self-studying" learning and an 800 is yours, like it was mine)
Only small issue, there is one typo stating cardiac muscle is unstriated, not true, it is striated.

This is the absolute book you want to get if you want above a 700 on the Sat subject test for either ecology or molecular. This goes into detail, just like the exam, the questions for review after each section are very similar to the actual test. I would recommend you spend about two weeks studying and practicing it to fully utilize it, but i would recommend this to anybody who wants above a 700 on this test.

This was my son's first SAT experience. This guide not only helped him with the Biology, it helped with overall SAT strategies and tips. Thanks to this book he went into the exam feeling confident and had a great exam. PS. Don't wait until a week before the test to start studying. Just sayin'.

This book was what I used the most for the SAT Bio. I used this and testbankprep.com (my tutor's practice questions). I ended up with a 790 after about 10 weeks of studying. SparkNotes was pretty good too, but the real test was a little harder. I don't know about Kaplan.

The book gives a nice review of all the topics that are on the test. Students can easily pinpoint their weakest area and study from there. The questions inside are very similar to the actual test. This book is a great study tool for the SAT subject test.

I didn't know anything about Bio until the year I took Honors Bio at my school, but the SAT 2 is meant for AP Bio students, so I got this book to try and study the higher level material.

With many realistic and challenging questions and strategies, this book provided me with the information I needed. It had plenty of practice multiple choice questions, AND tests as well as a diagnostic one that I scored a measly 500 on.

Perhaps most importantly, the information that was provided for each unit and each section (both E and M) was spot-on and very detailed, with pictures and diagrams that really aided in understanding the challenging material.

In the end, although I didn't get a perfect 800, my score increased 230 points, which I believe is a ridiculously good increase since I studied completely out of this one book.

I highly recommend Barron's SAT Biology textbook for anyone who wants to do well (maybe even perfect) on the SAT 2 Biology exam!

    Good luck!
