4.0 out of 5 stars Great Help!
This book was so helpful to me when I studied for the SAT Literature subject test. Each chapter breaks down a different aspect of the test, whether it be prose or poetry. Each chapter also provides sample questions that are very similar to what is on the test, and explanations for the questions. This helped me improve so much because it explained why I got some questions...

This was an OK product. I actually took the Literature test cold once before I started using Barron's to study. I actually received a lower score when I studied with Barron's. Not to say that it is Barron's fault (I completed all the practice tests) but for those already at a high level in verbal reasoning, this book will not help you improve any more...

This book was so helpful to me when I studied for the SAT Literature subject test. Each chapter breaks down a different aspect of the test, whether it be prose or poetry. Each chapter also provides sample questions that are very similar to what is on the test, and explanations for the questions. This helped me improve so much because it explained why I got some questions wrong, which helped me to not make those mistakes on the test. The back of the book also includes full practice tests, which really helped me get acquainted with pacing and time for the real test. Overall, this book was such a great help to me when I was studying for the subject test!

This was an OK product. I actually took the Literature test cold once before I started using Barron's to study. I actually received a lower score when I studied with Barron's. Not to say that it is Barron's fault (I completed all the practice tests) but for those already at a high level in verbal reasoning, this book will not help you improve any more.

Barron's Literature is harder than the actual SAT II, but its scaling is similar. At times, I found the explanations to the multiple choice sparse and unsatisfying. The main utility of this book was the fact it had so many practice tests. The actual chapters that tried to build your comprehension ability with "exercises" were not as helpful as Barron's envisioned.

Thus, I RECOMMEND this book if you need lots of extra practice, and aren't that good. I do NOT RECOMMEND this book if you're already scoring high on SAT verbal reasoning; find another book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't get the kindle edition!, December 1, 2011

The Kindle edition does not show the line numbers on the excerpts!!! so it is Very difficult to answer the questions. Also, when you want to look at the answer explanations you have to go back and forth. It is very tedious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Review Book, June 5, 2011
This review is from: Barron's SAT Subject Test Literature (Paperback)
This was a really excellent product. I decided to take literature about a week before the test (I know... stupid move), and Barron's really worked. They have a really thorough review section which covers almost anything that can be on the test and more. They make their practice tests insanely hard, so when you come to the actual test it looks easy and you kind of breeze by. This can also be annoying at times, like occasionally on a practice test (they have seven by the way) you have two or three answers that are really really similar, and they eliminate the "wrong" ones with hairsplitting distinctions and inferences. Luckily, the actual test is not anything like this, so the questions seem far easier in comparison. I could barely break 700 on the practice tests and diagnostic tests (they have two) in the book, but I just took the test today and feel like I got a 750+. If your smart and start reviewing more than a week before the test, I can't see why you'd have a problem doing well.

Tried the practice test - the line numbers do not show up in the kindle version - making it IMPOSSIBLE to take the test. Don't waste your money!!
