I bought this primarily for the target range and I am very satisfied! It's larger than most spotters, but it has very good eye relief and flexability (eye piece). The only problem that I see is that the front lens cover does not have as tight of fit as I would have expected. The carrying case is a nice addition.

I ordered this to keep an eye on some bald eagles that roost in a tree about 50 yards from my house. When it arrived, the eyepiece was broken (apparently at the factory, not in shipping) so I sent it back. The second one arrived in perfect condition. The previous reviewer is correct that it doesn't focus well at the highest magnification. But in the medium zoom range it works fine, and I think better than most binoculars at this price. I can see every feather on the eagles, and watch them blinking their eyes. Solidly built and a good-looking scope. I think this would be a good first telescope for a child; it comes all in one piece, i.e. no assembly required except to attach the tripod, and doesn't feel like a toy.

It is nice scope for $83 found it through[...] Rubber armor feels very comfortable and despite previous comment front lens cover does have tight fit. Optics not great but quite good. The only problem (1 star off) is the tripod. It's very small for such magnification. Case is nice but to fit in you need to disassemble eyepiece.

See the moon in all its perfection, beautiful, have to play around with the magnification but once you have it set correctly, it is great, ENJOY!!!!!!!

This scope seems like a great deal: it comes from a reputable company, looks good, has a carrying case and table-top tripod included. And when you first use it, it seems great. But then, if you really set it up properly, on a stable full-size tripod, and try to view something, you'll notice that it can't focus at high magnifications - anything above 30X or so. Now I certainly don't expect Leica (or even Pentax) quality at this price, but I expect to see SOMETHING. At high magnifications, all you can see is a very low-contrast blur, no detail at all. If you stick to 15-25X, it's fine. But that's not what I buy a scope for. It's going back.

The scope itself is pretty well made, can't expect too much out of a cheaper model of spotting scope. The only complaint I would have is that the tripod is cheap, it was very difficult/almost impossible to center the frame when zoomed in (you have to over-compensate and hope that it will fall into frame as you let go). If you have a decent photography tripod, then you likely wont have any qualms.

For the money this Barska can't be beat. Used at the range, it has proven to be a competent companion spotting my hits (with 5.56 or larger caliber) at 100 mtrs, clearly enough. 200 mtrs. is viewable using 30 caliber or larger. Being Angled and Rotatable are helpful features preventing one from moving needlessly from shooting position.

UPDATE: Having used this scope for the last 2 1/2 years it has proven to be a very dependable companion. My original impression for the price paid remains valid. Lens have remained clear and the only adjustments made to date are tightening the bolts on the tripod. Spend the few extra bucks to get this spotter rather than the el-cheapo stuff at $50. As for the low ratings given by other reviewers, they must be comparing this to the expensive stuff ($150+). So far, can't find anything in this price range that gives this high level of performance.

Just few words about this products. I bought for my father watch birds, I was really in doubt but the price was convincing.
When it arrived I realized that was very big scope, more than necessary if compared with the other brands.
After the rubber material looks good but is kind of all stained, I dont know how to describe but gave me a good first impression.
I placed onto the tripod and opens the lenses cover...and nothing no image...I questioned myself. What is going on? than I read the manual...terrible and do not inform nothing important about the scope...I packed in less than 2 hrs and sent back! Thanks Amazon has a good re-found policy.
If you want one scope, as other people says, pay more for a Bushnell I have on binocular and now one scope from this brand! Its great product from my point of view!

I purchased this item as a Christmas gift for my daughter in law and she is so pleased with it. She takes it with her to view birds and animal wildlife all over, she is very happy with this item.
