This scope is an adequate scope for wild life or scenery, but for hunting and/or target shooting it is not up to standard. The scope feels light, the tripod is difficult to adjust precisely, and at the highest magnification the view is blurry/fuzzy. The light is adequate, but the blurry image is a big minus. When comparing this scope to my friends bushnell of the same power this one wins hands down, a definate purchase for someone on a budget and looking to get good quality for limited funds.

For the price, this scope does the job and easily in the top tier within its class/costs. It is easy to handle and really light which makes it easy to hike with. To be honest, this scope is more capable than any scope we used in the USMC scout/sniper platoon I served in back in the early 90s. The cases are excellent. I would recommend a heavier tripod for added stability.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great scope, great package at a great price, March 10, 2009

This review is from: Barska BlackBlackhawk 20-60x60 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope w/Tripod, Soft Carry Case & Premium Hard Case (Sports)
I bought this scope to zero in my AR-15 at about 100-yards. It worked well, and I can see my bullet holes up to about 150-yards. Beyond that, I can focus on my target, but struggled to count the number of bullet holes. This scope is great for the $109 price, especially with the extras you don't get with the more expensive brands. And it held up well against my friend's expensive $450 Leupold (that he got without a tripod or hard case). Unfortunately I needed something strong (good up to 300-yards), and returned this scope for the Barska Benchmark 25-125X88 for $15 more.
My advice, pick the magnification power that fits your needs and expectations. Then compare prices before comparing brands.

4.0 out of 5 stars Barska Blackhawk 20-60 x 60 Spotting Scope, May 3, 2007
This review is from: Barska BlackBlackhawk 20-60x60 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope w/Tripod, Soft Carry Case & Premium Hard Case (Sports)
I am new to the sport of hunting/rifle shooting and recently purchased the Barska Blackhawk for the purpose of sighting/practicing with my rifles at the range. I have used the scope at a distance that exceeded 100 yards and the view was clear. In my opinion (though not an expert in this field) this product was worth every dollar. In addition, the scope comes in a very nice case.

5.0 out of 5 stars simply amazing, October 27, 2007
This review is from: Barska BlackBlackhawk 20-60x60 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope w/Tripod, Soft Carry Case & Premium Hard Case (Sports)
i was hesitant to buy due to the apparent low price, most top end scopes are $500+
i hummed and hawed for months then decided to buy. this scope is amazing, great zoom function, clear lenses, nice carry bag, the hard sided case is nice too.
only thing for me is the tripod is small for birding, the provided tripod is good on a table or if you are lying down, i already had a full size tripod and the scope works great on it.
i use the mini tripd for my camera so it does not go unused.
use the scope for birding and it zooms in on birds hundreds of yard away.
a definite great buy for me!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start for those in need of a decent spotting scope, February 23, 2009
This review is from: Barska BlackBlackhawk 20-60x60 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope w/Tripod, Soft Carry Case & Premium Hard Case (Sports)
First off, good value for the price. The contents included are more than some of the competition. That said, the included tripod works fine although it isn't the best quality, it is quite sturdy and does the job on a bench table or tabletop. The scope's quality is good, optics are a 3.5 out of 5. I purchased this scope for the range and it was worked fine for 300 yards. I haven't had the opportunity to test it out at a range with more distance. The starting 20x is definately too much for close distances, so if you are thinking about using for close distances in the 5-15 yard range, I would look at another scope with a smaller starting magnification. The included hard case does a great job, it has plently of room for the tripod (if you unscrew the handle), scope, and extra items as well.

Overall I like the scope as it did what it was suppose to do and it didn't cost enough to make you think twice about your purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars We LOVE this spotting scope!, July 23, 2007
This review is from: Barska BlackBlackhawk 20-60x60 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope w/Tripod, Soft Carry Case & Premium Hard Case (Sports)
We've been using it to watch the wildlife out at a pond about 140 yards from the house. Not only can we watch the painted turtles climb up on the turtle log, we can even see dragonflies land! And we never would have been able to watch the kingbirds with binoculars!

The icing on the cake was when we looked at Saturn and Venus a couple of weeks ago. Boy were we surprised when we could see Saturn's rings! Then we looked at Jupiter and could distinguish 3 moons! We LOVE this scope!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Buy, April 10, 2007
This review is from: Barska BlackBlackhawk 20-60x60 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope w/Tripod, Soft Carry Case & Premium Hard Case (Sports)
Spotting Scope works great, used it sight in my rifles, spotting with it is incredibly easy, and doesn't strain your eyes too bad, naturally they will a little. The only thing is that the tripod wasn't very sturdy, and didn't have very many adjustments.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Spotting Scope fo the Money, October 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Barska BlackBlackhawk 20-60x60 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope w/Tripod, Soft Carry Case & Premium Hard Case (Sports)
I bought this scope for sighting in my hunting rifles. I normally sight in at 100 yards, so this scope has all the range and resolution I need.

If you need the clarity of Nikon or Leupold, this scope might dissapoint you. Also, the construction is good, but it feels light, and I would hate to drop it.

Still, I was able to see very clear detail of my shots on papere at 100 yards, so this scope does everything I need it to. Also, it shipped with a nylon soft case, a small tripod, and a hard aluminum case.

Overall, I am very happy with this scope. If you're looking for a nice servicable scope at an attractive price point, give the Larsak Blackhawk a look.
