First time cooking with Beer,
This review is from: The Bartenders Beer Cookbook (Paperback)
I love the cover of this book! The author in chef hat behind the bar! Very witty and appealing!
I am new to cooking with beer and was surprised with the variety of recipes offered. In fact, I'm surprised with the variety of beers out there! But that just confirms me as a beer novice! The book has a nice beer glossary and an amusing bit of beer trivia. I had heard of making beer batter for fish, but this book actually offers main course dishes for dinner - some with rather fetching names like "Bock, Bock, Bock Chicken"; "Belgian Carbonnade a la Flamande" and "Hefenweizen Pancakes". The cookbook cover states that there are "over 100 recipes". I didn't count them, but judging from the scope of choices, there must be at least that many. I decided to start with the deserts! I made the Walnut Beer Cookies...a simple drop cookie. They were delicious - not too sweet - light and fluffy with a nice nutty taste. And they were as easy to make as the author said. There are some festive deserts that I am looking forward to trying: "Beeramisu" , "Stout Chocolate Silk Pie" and a "Chocolate Beer Pudding Cake." I'm concentrating on the breads, biscuits, and deserts but I know I will get around to trying some of the main course dishes soon. I recommend this book both as an addition to one's cooking library and most definitely as a gift for the men in our lives who love cooking and love beer!

I bought a copy signed by the author and it was given as a gift to someone who brews his own beer. He liked the recipes and said he'll enjoy trying them ....

The Bartenders Beer Cookbook provides unique and interesting recipes for a variety of dishes from entrees to desserts. All linked by a common ingredient:beer. I have tried most of the dishes and found the recipes to be accurate and very tasty. I highly recommend this book for novice and expert cooks alike who are looking for something different to make for the holidays or anytime they want to create a delicious and memorable dish.

I am so happy to have found this excellent book! I liked it so well that I have ordered FIVE for some of my friends. Feel sure I will have to order more after I get these five distributed. We've waited a long time for Mr. Barbano's book.
