5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Systems for Heavy Bags!, June 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bas Rutten MMA System Workout (DVD)
I just received mine very quickly on standard shipping and looks perfect. If you have a heavy bag you need to get this system. It will make working out funner and harder at the same time. The cardio is tremendous and will get your heart rate up quickly and bust into a heavy sweat. I own several systems including p90x, the pit-crosspit- 20s, and Insanity. I use p90x as my main workout and add everything else in the mix in between days (I dont do yoga, kempo, or stretch on p90x). I will actually start doing the bas rutten right after the p90x workouts now and is way funner than the insanity workouts that i was doing for cardio. Dont get me wrong, insanity is great cardio but very repetitive and will wear your knees. The pit is also very good but it does not have as much bag work as Bas Rutten. In The Pit, you will be doing lots of bodyweight pushups, squats, burpees, then throwing you on the bag which is a very effective workout on its own. But the Bas Rutten has definitely exceeded my expectations and is tremendous for getting your heart into shape. And by the way, listening to the audio rather than watching it on the TV like other systems has also impressed me. You can just concentrate on the bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Endurance Training, March 4, 2009
By
ML (Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bas Rutten MMA System Workout (DVD)
This is a great product. It is simple, easy to follow, and works for anyone at any level of conditioning. It is an extremely flexible system too, so you can customize your workout (by going longer or selecting different routines). I usually do one of the two 29 minute all-around-workout sessions (very fatiguing), then take a rest, stretch a bit, then do the fighting rounds (boxing, thai boxing, or all-around fighting). I mix it up to keep it fresh and work different muscle groups, and by giving you three different ways to train, Bas gives you that flexibility. There are both 2 minute and 3 minute rounds (you can do as many as you want), so again, you have the flexibility to customize your workout without just having to skip things, or take it easy. When using these CDs, NEVER take it easy. Just do more or less rounds to match your fitness level, but go FULL OUT on everything you do and you will see endurance and power gains very quickly. With proper diet, you will also get ripped doing these. If you are in it for fight training, you'll be very happy. Even if you are just in it to get a fighter's body, you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bas rules!, January 6, 2009

This will whip you into shape if you USE it, or it will collect dust if you never get off your butt.

This is my first try at working out to a CD, and it turned my normal 12 minute bag hitting workout into a serious regimented 30 minute MMA workout session.

All of you out there hitting your heavy bag in the garage for 45 seconds and then flexing in the mirror really need this. The consistency of this routine can and will improve your stamina and endurance.

THIS IS AN MMA WORKOUT, NOT A SELF DEFENSE COURSE. BAS RULES!

5.0 out of 5 stars One nasty workout, May 24, 2010
By
This review is from: Bas Rutten MMA System Workout (DVD)
These workouts are just filthy, nasty. I train with the boxing and all-around workouts and they are just brutal, particularly the all-around workout. (And by brutal, I mean awesome.)

Yep, they're tough, but there's a reason it's called working out. For those who want elite-level conditioning, are willing to work, endure the pain and to consistently demand more of themselves, you will love this. I initially found out about it reading an article about Marine Force Recon. If these guys are doing it, it's legit.

If you combine this with proper nutrition - as one reviewer pointed out - along with a dedicated strength training program, you will get ripped. But best of all, you'll just feel great, will be in great shape and will have the strength of mind that goes along with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars BAS ROCKS!, August 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bas Rutten MMA System Workout (DVD)
Two words: BUY IT!!!

I checked Sherdog Forums to see what was the most recommended MMA training DVD before I bought Bas'. All of the reviews were 5 star so I went for it and have not been disappointed.

There is one introductory DVD where Bas goes through all of the routines - punches, kicks, knees, sprawls, pushups, abs, combinations, squat jumps, tuck jumps, mountain climbers, neck bridges, curls, etc. - that are on his remaining 4 audio CDs.

The four CDs cover: boxing, thai boxing, all around workout and all around fighting.

They are structured as follows.

Bas calls out combinations and/or exercises in rapid fire sequence and you follow the CD for the entire workout. The sequences are broken out into 2 and 3 minute drills.

You can mix/match routines to your heart's content.

For example you can start with a 2 min round of boxing, then the next round do the all around workout for 2 or 3 minutes, etc.

Each workout can be done on a heavy bag, using focus mitts, with a partner or shadow boxing.

I added the CDs to my IPOD and use them regularly.

Let me tell you BAS WILL KICK YOUR ASS WITH THESE ROUTINES!!

These CDs will improve not only your conditioning but reflexes and sparring/fighting skills.

As an added bonus, Bas' personality is such that he keeps the CDs fun and interesting.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks Bas. You Da Man!, September 1, 2009
By
This review is from: Bas Rutten MMA System Workout (DVD)
My journey started about 5 weeks ago. I tried to run a mile and BARELY finished it. It took me 9 minutes. Next, I tried Bas' boxing CD with 2 minute rounds. I couldn't even finish the first round. I stuck with it and have been running everyday aswell.

The MMA workout is 4 days a week, so on those days I run a mile, and on the days off I run a 5k (Which was very tough for me the first time).

Fast forward to today. I can do the workout (3 round of all around fighting as a warmup and I'm on 7 rounds of 2 minutes) no problem. I look forward to the workout and honestly I am in the best shape of my life. I just ran my bets mile yesterday in 6:59.

I went from couch to 7 minute mile and the best shape of my life using this program. I can't thank Bas enough.

You da man El Guapo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong. Just use it, August 20, 2009
This review is from: Bas Rutten MMA System Workout (DVD)
If you have read the other reviews then you won't find anything that hasn't already been pointed out in my review. I got it for my birthday and I love it. Bas is also a comical person too so he is good at keeping your enthusiasm up but still serious about doing things the right way and at full power. The cds are audio so you can focus more on what your doing, except for his instruction cd where he points out everything and demonstrates it himself, so no reason to be confused here. Put it in a stero cd player, portable player, computer. Anywhere you have room to train.

It's a flexible program and can be tailored to fit what your already doing or can be used alone.

Now just wonder about his Big DVD of Combat.

This product came quickly and in perfect condition. I am very pleased with the quality of the product and the workout that I get using it. I use it as a suppliment to Beachbodys P90X program. This is a tough work out with no fluff. Bas is the man!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great workout, June 8, 2010

Rich (Boise, ID) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bas Rutten MMA System Workout (DVD)
This is the best workout you can get without going to a class. I have done Krav Maga for years, but with small children my schedule doesn't allow much time to go to class. I needed something to help me workout on my own. Bas' CDs with a heavy bag are a great workout whenever I have time. I also use the CDs when I am traveling or otherwise don't have a heavy bag. Just shadow boxing to the boxing CD is a good workout.

Start with the boxing CD. Don't just hit the bag, but concentrate on your technique and movement. It is a fantastic workout. The remaining CDs step the intensity up when you feel the boxing CD has become too easy.

These CDs do not try to teach you MMA. They are intended to facilitate a workout. However, if you keep your mind on your technique and movement, the workout will help reinforce your skills.
