Book Description

November 4, 2004
BASE 66 is the true, nerve-wracking account of three young skydivers and their quest for membership in the most select extreme sports club on earth: The BASE club. In order to become a full-fledged member, Jevto Dedijer, Bernard Poirier, and Scott Elder had to parachute from the top of a building, an antenna tower, a bridge and a cliff, and survive to tell the story--a feat only some 800 adrenaline addicted people have succeeded in doing.

In BASE 66, Jevto Dedijer tells the tale of his hunger for the ultimate adrenaline rush. He and his companions shared several near death experiences while traveling across Europe with their parachutes and beer in Bernard's dented Renault 4.

They were pioneers in a sport so dangerous that several of their fellow BASE jumpers died in action.

"BASE 66 is a fascinating story about life and death, terror and joy, and intimate friendship. It is an account of extraordinary people taking a step beyond the edge."

Yuri Kuznetsov--BASE 416

"Everyone will enjoy reading Jevto's thrilling and humorous tale of his fascinating BASE odyssey and his discovery of a way of life that surpasses artificial boundaries and provides lifelong inspiration."

Jean Boenish--BASE 3

5.0 out of 5 stars 'The whole world is jumpable!', May 27, 2005
This review is from: Base 66: A Story of Fear, Fun, and Freefall (Paperback)
This book brought back fond memories of what it was like BASE jumping in the '80's, when we weren't even sure 'what' was possible. The fear of death, the fear of injury, the fear of getting caught. I remember my girlfriend's comment when I called to tell her I had just completed my first building jump and qualified for BASE -- "Good, you don't have to do any more jumps now." "NOT!" BASE 66 brought all that back and more. A great book for any adventurer.

5.0 out of 5 stars What base, adventure and life are all about!, April 12, 2005
This review is from: Base 66: A Story of Fear, Fun, and Freefall (Paperback)
As a base-jumper myself, I can highly recommend this book! Not just if you're a base-jumper, but also if you love reading about the adventures of other people. This book not only manages to capture the thrill and excitement of base-jumping (and in those days it was many times more exciting), but it also shows how ultimately the most important part is sharing these experiences with great friends. If you're a couch-potato, start by reading this book and then go outside, meet people, and go on adventures!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should have a friend like Cloudia, January 4, 2005
This review is from: Base 66: A Story of Fear, Fun, and Freefall (Paperback)
Base 66 is a great and entertaining story about the golden age of BASE jumping. These guys were crazy (or idiots as they called themselves) just like space pioneers. Always pushing the envelope to the limits... and were lucky enough to lived to tell about it.
