5.0 out of 5 stars Best Productivity App Ever! July 4, 2013
Verified Purchase
I am always searching endlessly for a GTD, Outliner with Calendar, productivity app. I have tried today and was laying ToDoist next to Brainjet and Brainjet won hands down for me.

I like the way you can add endless notes just on one item, making it almost it's own project, then categorize, prioritize, date sensitive, and then focus.

My only complaint is that there were no directions, so I watched the video, and was a little alarmed that Brainjet might not be around unless it finds funding. Also I did internet searches and really could not find out much about who made the app or the company. I don't like the idea of falling in love with this app and loading all my stuff on it and then have it leave me out in the cold.

Who ever you are Brainjet. Give us an update on your status!

I guess its my fault. I thought this was one of those memory booster puzzle games. I misunderstood, its somehow supposed to help you become more productive.

I'm a student of GTD, 7 Habits and regularly read LifeHacker. Those who do the same would do well to stay away from this app. As previous users have mentioned, there are no instructions on use and the format of this app does not correspond at all to any of the aforementioned frameworks rendering it not easily useable. Am I supposed to learn yet another framework to use this app? Not likely. Several technical issues also exist with this app - the text entry field doesn't register auto-space capability as is found on Android phones using Swype-like functionality. The Edit Account feature doesn't register changes causing an initial incorrect account name that I entered to always be the default when I use this app. Finally, text entry fields disappear behind the virtual keyboard (at least on my Samsung GalaxyIII) when I'm typing so I always have to flip the app up to see where its registered my key presses at. This looks like it was definitely pre Version 0 as indicated on the app splash screen. I can't believe even the author found this app that useable that it "amplified" his productivity. Personally, I would try the My Effectiveness Habits app or if you're looking for just a list manager, the Out of Milk app. These are by far more useful than this app ever was.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not for Everyone - but FANTASTIC if you get it! April 12, 2014

I'd say for the vast majority of people this app is unfortunately not what your looking for. And even for you, it could be great but you'd need waaaaaay more documentation than what is provided for you to actually understand how to use it for you. I say "for you" because the app is so open, so unstructured, that it can be used in lot of different ways.

People who have used and liked Life Balance by Llamagraphics will probably have an edge on being able to make it work for them.

What would be great, would be a website where people could write detailed examples of how they use the program.

If you are looking for a fancy to-do list, a scheduler or a calendar - keep looking.

The program is free - TRY to understand it - watch the video several times then actually do it. It might dawn on you how this program can be of use to you - and if not -that's ok.

If you have read Getting Things Done by David Allen you will better understand this can be useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely love this for my organizing needs September 5, 2013

I have a big issue with overwhelming myself with random to do lists that aren't structured or organized in a way that gets the most out of my time without making me feel stressed about forgetting to find the time to get it done. This app helps categorize and prioritize those items in a way that makes sense and helps me to focus on the current focus items without losing track of the less but still pertinent important ones. I did not find the need for drop down necessary despite the review listed below. It is unfortunate that there isn't a tutorial however the video provided here gives all the information and visual demonstrations needed to run this simple app. Love it!

1.0 out of 5 stars How does this work? September 4, 2013

There are no directions on how to use this. It is really a worthless program because there aren't even any drop down choices..

I have not been able to figure out how to get it to make subcategories. It will open on my Kindle fire, but it will not allow any editing. I have to go on to the web to get it to function. Without instructions it is just too difficult to figure out.
