Excellent Production and Quality,

Attention, baseball fans: this is not a primer on how to play baseball, it's a board book intended for young children!
This is a great little book that benefits from official licensing from major league baseball. The illustrations are all high-quality photographs on plain backgrounds with simple identifying words. It's an alphabet primer, going from A to Z. It can be read with an infant, who will be attracted to the variety of objects (bats, balls, gloves, players in various acts of hitting, pitching, and fielding) against the clean white bacgkrounds. Toddlers will like it because of the extra vocabulary beyond "ball" and "bat", and when they start to recognize the "characters" as people they might see on the field. As such, it might be a good read before taking your little slugger to a game, to give her or him an advance grounding on the confusion of people and things on the field. Mom and Dad will enjoy checking out the illustrations and trying to identify the real major league players in some of the poses (they're not labeled in the book, so it's a neat game to play while your child looks back and forth at the pages). Baseball 1-2-3 is the companion counting book, and is a little simpler and more focussed on the counting, and is probably of more interest to kids in the counting stage only. Baseball ABC is a little more versatile because of its extra length and the variety of objects and people depicted. Well-recommended by this baseball fan and his toddler as among the better of the many baseball-themed books for the very young. A good gift for baseball-loving parents as well.

My Baby Learned The Alphabet From This Book!,
By
This review is from: Baseball A B C (Board book)
I don't know if it is just my child or the fun subject matter or both, but my 15 month old LOVES this book. He begs me to read him the "ball book." He learned to say "SAFE!" and "Yer OUT!" along with the accompaning hand gestures. It's adorable. He truly knows the vast majority of the alphabet on sight and I attribute it in large part to this book. It's a kick.

This book is just adorable if you have a baseball fan in the house. It features photos of items and well known players. For example, Cal Ripkin, Jr. is one of thr photos on the T page as third baseman. This book was given to my nephew as a birthday gift, I am ordering one for my daughter (and husband!)

A Must for a Baseball Baby,

This book is an even better intro into baseball than "Baseball 1 2 3" - my 20-month old daughter can ID her teams on the pages and is picking up the words quite rapidly. The pictures are a good mix of all the MLB teams and you get more than just "baseball" words (like Yogi Berra, Green Monster, etc).

My son is a HUGE baseball fan and this book is a winner in our house. It has familiar faces and also some objects he wasn't familiar with before such as umpires, and mascots. He has fun looking at the pictures and we use it to help him develop some new verbs in his vocabulary
