Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Gr. 1^-2. The text is on the long side, but new readers probably won't mind once they get into the story of a new boy who messes up on the baseball field. He decides to have a baseball party to show the kids he really is a good player, but the invitations accidentally go into a box labeled "litter" not "letters," and for a while it seems as if no one is coming to the party. Colorful art featuring a multiethnic group of kids adds to a story that is a bit more dimensional than many in the genre. Ilene Cooper

From the Inside Flap

Illustrated in full color. After missing a big catch, new kid Billy invites the team to his baseball birthday party, where he plans to prove he's no butterfingers.  But a mishap with the invitations leaves Billy with an even bigger problem on his hands.   --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

My four-year-old loved this book! I also enjoyed it as well. The story is a tad long, but it was a great book. I like how there were many different children in the book and how they got along together. A book for any baseball fan!
