5.0 out of 5 stars Creative Play
We've got three little boys, ages 8, 5 & 3, who love the hockey, soccer, football & baseball guys. For little ones who like "guys", these toys really encourage imaginative play... for us, preferred over video games or movies... very fun to watch.
The main reason I'm providing a review is to detail how I was able to 'fix' the only problem we've had with the 'guy'...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of imagination play
Received in a very prompt manner and in good shape. I bought it for my nine year old nephew that enjoys imagination play and he played with this with enthusiasm.

We've got three little boys, ages 8, 5 & 3, who love the hockey, soccer, football & baseball guys. For little ones who like "guys", these toys really encourage imaginative play... for us, preferred over video games or movies... very fun to watch.
The main reason I'm providing a review is to detail how I was able to 'fix' the only problem we've had with the 'guy' series... Inevitably, one or more of the guys will show up unable to stand up, either because his base is 'warped' or he's bent at an angle that won't allow him to stay upright. This also works for guys who are holding bent bats, hockey sticks, etc...

Heat a pot of water to just about boiling.
Immerse the portion of the 'warped' guy in the hot water for about 30 seconds.
Stand the guy up in the sink on a plate or some other flat surface and hold him up in the preferred position.
Run cold water over the guy for about 15 sec.
Once you've run the cold water over the guy, this effectively 'resets' the position of the guy.
If you haven't got the guy 'just right', you can do it over. There shouldn't be a problem with repeated temperature excursions.

Some pointers;
Standard warnings about working with hot liquids... should only be done by an adult or supervised. Be careful! Don't immerse your hand in the hot water.
Don't immerse the whole guy, just the part you're trying to fix.
If you need to fix the base as well as a bat or other spot, do them separately.

Hope this helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy for imaginative kids!, November 20, 2007

Santa brought this toy for my then 6 year old son last Christmas. He is a huge baseball fan and has a very vivid imagination. he always has preferred making up his own fun over electronic toys, etc. He just loves this toy!! It is probably the #1 played with toy. The lid isn't very durable (we've resorted to a strong elastic) but all the guys fit into the case with the felt field and scoreboard. We are from Boston so it's an extra bonus that the team resembles the Red Sox vs. Yankees and the numbers even correspond to the 2004 ALDS players on those teams that year (the SOX won!). I would highly recomment this toy to any boys who truly enjoy the game of baseball!

My 8-yr-old son has had the Baseball Guys for a couple of years, along with the Football Guys. Great toys! Very well designed and durable. We love that one of the baseball teams is red (like our beloved Red Sox) and one blue (we pretend they are Yankees). The scoreboard that is included is so cute, you can adjust the score and it stands up. Lots of imaginative fun with this toy! Perfect for our little baseball fan.

We bought this for my son's 5th birthday and he has absolutely loved it. Like the other reviews, he has already spent hours making up games and plays. He loves the little score-board that comes with it as well. I gave it four stars because of the price. Although it is a fun toy, it is really just plastic figurines and a felt mat. I would have rather seen it in the $15-$20 price range. But, that being said, we are likely going to get him the football version that he is already asking for for Christmas. Also, the box that it comes in and for storage could be a little bigger. Small hands will have a hard time rolling up the mat small enough to fit in everything.

My (then) 3 1/2 year old son received this as a Hanukkah gift. We opened it and put all the players in position. My next thought was "ok, now what?." I feared that he would find it boring. Nothing could be farther from the truth. He loves it! He makes up the baseball games in his head and does the play by play. I hear him yelling "Base hit up the middle, runner scores!" He has learned all of the position names and where they stand. I plan to buy the Hockey and Football versions soon.

I recently purchases Baseball Guys for my son who was turning 5. He's just starting baseball and it seemed like a good idea. I had read some of the reviews and most seemed good. Almost too good. I was skeptical that he would find it as entertaining as many of the other reviewers' children had, but the low tech nature of it appealed to me.

He absolutely loved it. Although he received many other gifts for his birthday, many of which had pretty high "wow" factor, this was far and away his favorite. It won over transformers, star wars figures, and legos. I'm still somewhat incredulous, but clearly he loves it. 1 week later and he's still happily playing and making up games. In addition, it's helped him understand some of the elements of the game that were beyond him. He can position players and is starting to mimic the announcers he sees playing. He's even put #11 at short, since Jimmy Rollins is his favorite players.

Good fun - try it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent for imaginative baseball play, December 5, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

My son received this product as an early Christmas present. He is a fanatic baseball devotee. The great thing is that he can create an entire baseball game & doesn't need an expensive game box or complicated card game to have fun!

The set has players for both teams, both defensive & offensive (batters & runners). There are nice extras like an umpire, scoreboard & felt "field". The players are not super detailed, but that's not a problem with a little imagination. I like it because it doesn't require parent set-up or batteries, and it runs on imagination.

If my son or daughter wanted any of the other kaskey kids sports sets, I wouldn't hesitate to make a purchase!

My four year old loves this toy. It is simply a box of baseball guys consisting of two teams, with a pitcher, catcher, runners, fielders, umpire and scoreboard. The good thing about this toy is there are no rules, directions or sounds. I like that my son will use his imagination and play for hours in his made up baseball game. A hit if you child is into sports.

We got this set of Baseball Guys for our almost 6 year old son for Christmas. He's a huge baseball fanatic, and this toy was perfect for him. He'd been using his superhero guys to play baseball so he was ecstatic to be able to use real baseball guys. The only thing that would make this set better would be to have moveable joints to position the players however he wants them. His 7th birthday was just on Jan 22, and we just had a baseball party at an indoor batting cage, and of course the cake was a baseball diamond with 5 of these baseball guys on top! I almost think he picked the theme to his party based on having these guys on a cake! The Kaskey Kids company has terrific customer service too. Our set came without an umpire, and when I e-mailed them about this, they immediately sent one out to us. You don't see great customer service like this anymore, so it was greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend buying from Kaskey Kids, and this set in particular. Great for letting kid's imaginations run wild.
