Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

An oral history project during the 1970s took Murdock ( Ban Johnson: Czar & Baseball , Greenwood, 1982) on a visit to the era's retired players, in order to collect their memories of baseball between the wars. He interviews aging former stars and journeymen, re-creating their deeds and those of their teammates and opponents. Since most of these players have since died, this is a valuable record that libraries should consider for their popular sports reference collections.
