Outstanding book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Baseball Prospectus: 1998 (Paperback)
The one reviewer made the comment that any such book should use "real" stats, instead of adjusted. That defies all principles of statistical analysis! Such an approach would render the book useless, and the reviewer's comments should be struck from this collection of reviews because that reviewer is obviously unqualified.I found the book incredibly useful, because the author made every attempt to render accurate information.

This book, and every one in the series is great. Great tips, insight and humour covering all the teams in MLB and every minor league "prospect". A must have for rotisserie league participants.

Excellent sources for stats and candid commentaries,

Fantastic reference book for the fantasy baseball owner, provides honest evaluations of each teams organization and not just the high-profile players. Provides interesting projections and is willing to take risks - does not say that every player is the best or greatest - in fact is highly critical of most players reserving superlatives for super players. Well worth the money - just don't share with your fellow fantasy league team owners.

THE Baseball Book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Baseball Prospectus: 1998 (Paperback)
This book is the best of both worlds. It offers by far the best analysis of players' current and future abilities to keep any roto/simulation player happy. It is also a highly entertaining read for anyone who is interested in baseball, fantasy player or not. There is no reason not to get this book if you're interested in baseball

Nothing this interesting since Bill James stopped writing the Baseball Annuals. Provides a measuring stick between all players in the last few years along with projections for this year, adjusted to include ballpark effects. And this year they added projections for pitchers. A book I use to draft for both my strat-o-matic and fantasy leagues and have done very well with. Highly recommended.

Outstanding player ratings book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Baseball Prospectus: 1998 (Paperback)
This book is similar to the no longer published Bill James Player Ratings books, but better. It covers every player and every serious prospect (as well as some non-serious prospects) on every team. It's an excellent source of information (and sometimes humor) for fantasy league players. The book also has some good team comments and some interesting discussions on pitcher win-loss records and the Internet MVP and Cy Young awards.

The Fantasy Baseball Owners Bible,
By A Customer
This review is from: Baseball Prospectus: 1998 (Paperback)
Hands down the best and most comprehensive baseball book on the market today. With Davenport Translations, Vladimir Projections, Defensive Average and meaningful write-ups on all major AND minor league players, this is the only book you'll need when it comes to rotisserie/fantasy baseball.

stats are not real,
By A Customer
This review is from: Baseball Prospectus: 1998 (Paperback)
It's good to compare players using adjusted stats. However, the book should also contain REAL stats. Because adjusted stats are just approximations.
