I have been a baseball fan all of my life and I played baseball all over the world. i have purchases and read tons of books on America's Pastime, butI can honestlt say, nothing remotely compared to Burt Soloman's Baseball Timeline. The book captures the true spirit of the game and is a great and educational book on baseball for all fans, young and old. The book was well written, organized and the pitcures were amazing. As a dedicated fan and player of the game, I highly recommend this book to all. You can't beat the price for a book like this.

Baseball Timeline is a true work of art. it is obvious that the author spent an enormous amount of time researching and contemplating the information that went into the book. i am an avid baseball fan of the last ten to fifteen years or so, and i was still amazed by the facts and stories included in the book for those years. needless to say, i was even more enlightened while reading and learning about the prior hundred years or so.

id say that Baseball Timeline is a must have for any avid fan of America's Pastime, as well as a must read for any fan of sports or history, or sports history. Author Solomon makes learning fun, and this is a breath of fresh air!

Only the BE, an Elias guide and baseball-reference.com compares to this book in depth of facts, and only Bouton's BALL FOUR, Shropshire's SEASONS IN HELL and Karlen's SLOUCHING TOWARD FARGO compare to it in terms of sheer baseball fun. I have used this book on countless occasions to settle arguments and to jog my memory about thoroughly obscure events, and many times I have settled into it just to review the decade of my childhood through the best lens possible: a diamond wrapped in green. Although Baseball lately has not exactly been my favorite sport, what with players barely hitting their weight making obscene amounts of money, and seemingly not caring about their fans,I found this book simply fascinating.What I have read, and it takes a while, is incredibly researched and detailed. Mr Solomon has left absolutely no stone unturned in his passionate desire to inform both the rabid and casual fans alike about the History of America's game. A perfect Fathers's Day gift, and one that can be read and referred to for years.

This book delivers what you'd expect--a People magazine look at baseball history. There are some fine stories about colorful players, but on every other page, something missed by the editors will jump out at you and scream "didn't anyone proofread this thing!"

If you don't mind reading an unpolished book, it may not bother you. But knowing that fans of baseball books are by and large sticklers for detail and statistics, this book could have been much, much better with only a little more cleaning.

Once you get past that, and the fact that you won't find any statistics to speak of, it's a fun read. Get it for the bathroom.

This book dates back to 1778, daily entries back to 1876, and gives a very thorough look at the day by day events in baseball history. Includes upstart leagues such as the American Association, Federal League, and Union League, but fails to include the Negro Leagues. Very thorough, also very heavy. But well worth the price.

Since I have been a baseball fan for most of my life it is a pleasure to find a book that covers all the angles of baseball information. I sat down with this book and found it hard to put down. Most of the time you don't call a book like this a page turner, but in Mr. Solomon's case he has devoloped a style and uniqueness that makes this book great fun. I found out things that I never knew and where so interesting that I feel that I am a better person for reading this book

This book is great for young baseball fans, like myself, who want breakdowns of the classic games that our parents and grandparents told us about. Its' one drawback is that it doesn't go too much into detail about every little event that happened during each season (if it did, the book would probably be multiple volumes thick), but rather summarizes important events and highlights. It's a great resource to jump around to different infamous or classic seasons, like 1955, 1919, Jackie Robinson's first season, etc. If my interest is sparked on a particular season or event, I'll do further research on the net.

This is the single best collection of baseball related events set to a timeframe. Baseball Almanac... uses this exact source to settle many disputes, help many visitors, and has proudly referred it as a source worth buying more than 150 times. A must have for the serious and not so serious fan of our national pastime.

I've waited a long time for this ! This is one of the best baseball history books I've ever read. This book is filled with information, statistics and other history related headlines of the past and present centuries. The illustrations are fantastic images of the yesteryear and today.

I recommend this book to all generations, especially today's, if they want to learn about baseball history, this book is the best way to get started.
