The St. Louis Cardinals thrilled Cardinal Nation with a game full of heart-stopping comebacks, including a spectacular 11th inning walk-off home run. Hometown hero and budding star David Freese smashed the solo shot in the final inning that provided a fitting finale to a spectacular Fall Classic matchup.
In Game 6 of the 2011 World Series, on the edge of elimination, the Cardinals trailed five times and were twice down to their last strike. But Freese, Lance Berkman and a resilient lineup evened the score each time until Freese delivered the second of his incredible moments--the wondrous walk-off homer. All of the drama, thrills, exhilaration and jubilation of this Fall Classic masterpiece are here to enjoy for the first time in pristine HD with the roar of the crowd in 5.1 surround sound.
Direct from the archives of Major League Baseball, this extraordinary television broadcast includes the quintessential making of an iconic moment, and one unforgettable baseball game available for the first time on Blu-Ray!

Unlike other choices in the Greatest Game archives (some date back to 1960), the televised quality of the production is as advanced as you might expect. Also unique to this entry is that, for the first time, the game is offered in a combo pack that offers a hi-def Blu-ray option that includes 5.1 surround sound (as well as a regular DVD version). So, in my opinion, the game looks and sounds great. If you collect games and like to rewatch them, this gives the home experience an extra punch. Also, the discs do offer optional radio play-by-play commentary to expand the viewing party into yet another dimension.
This is a great choice for baseball enthusiasts and a must-have for die-hard Cardinal fans! Busch Stadium, October 27, 2011, 11 innings. KGHarris, 3/12.
If you are a Cardinals fan, this could be your favorite piece of team history; a game so frustrating and flawed at the outset, to so heroic and perfect at the conclusion. Over the years, I have collected a wide assortment of video, capturing great moments of Cardinals history. After a while, it tends to get a little boring. I could watch this particular event every day for the next 50 years, and never get tired of it.
What amazes me is no matter how often I watch it, I still feel the range of emotions I experienced that Thursday evening back in October - hope, frustration, despair - to absolute joy. For Cardinals fans, it just doesn't get any better than this.
WE'LL SEE YOU TOMORROW NIGHT!
And both home runs (Freeze in 2011 & Puckett in 1991) were hit fairly deep too: Kirby hit his to deep left-center field in '91; Freeze went to deep center 20 years later.
