with a resime` longer then that of rapper foxy brown, lil mo has finally burst onto the scene with her own set of bangers. the record is hot to def and features slammin lyrics, productions and best of all mo's signature vocals that suduced us all into becoming one of her fans. showing she doesnt need the production edge of long time collaboraters Missy Elliott or even close friend Timbaland, this 4'11 singer shows good things come in small packages by delievering a solo album based upon a true story that i love to hear over and over again.the album's hottest tracks arent neccisarrly just the ballads or just the up tempo numbers, but the mix of both of them. sharing her upcoming on "my story" and her love for the streets on "gangsta" mo posses a lyrical style like no other. the real treasure on this album is "she cood neva b me" where mo uses a wide range of vocals from both ends of the scale. of course "superwoman pt. 2" featuring fabolous is an instant favorite as are the unusual but welcomed vocals/beats on "2moro" and one of my personal favorites "i aint gotta". other hot tracks are "the playa not the game" with carl thomas, "how many times", "time after time" and "saturday". i really wasnt feelin "ta da" that much or the intro/outro. all i can say is that mo's vocals are much better now then they were at five years old lol. basically all hip hop heads should cop this album because even the most hardcore thug would be satisfied with it. cant wait for the next release.

Who is Lil mo?? Anyone who keeps up with hip-hop and R+B knows this girl has been on everybody's record. From Missy to jay-z she layed vocals. You think that by now she would have had her cd out already. After holding off from the single ta da I was starting to worry that she wouldnt be able to get the same sucess herself. After hearing superwoman pt.2 and seeing how good it did I'm not anymore. Lil mo is probably one of teh most soulfull voices in hip-hop you will ever come across. Sometimes she makes you feel like right at church while makign u nod your head all at once. The songs that I like the most are:Playa not the game: is the tightest slow jam on teh album. carl and Mo are real smooth on this track. this should be the next single. Its no reason for it not to be. Ta da: This single is what started it all for her. It brings soul and hip-hop in one. tight. My Story: This is a tight mid-tempo track with a deep baseline. Anotehr one of my favorite songs here. Superwoman pt.2 : This is the best joint by far on this album. I played this out and it still sounds good. If you didnt hear this yet....turn the volume up and play. Time after Time: Lil Mo took this old song to the next level with soul by making you really feel what the song is saying. A good example of how she makes you feel like your back in church. Overall Lil mo gave you what she was known for and a lil extra. The only thing that could have made this cd better is more songs but just this alone is good. Anyone who didnt get to chekc this out yet...dont wait any longer for the story. Get it!

The up side: Lil Mo clearly shows some potential in her debut CD. She writes, or co-writes most of the songs on the CD. And she sings the songs with a passion. "My Story" and her gospelized Cyndi Lauper "Time After Time" remake are particularly heartfelt. Her voice is strong and sharp, reminiscent of Michelle from Destiny's Child. Halfway decent ballads/midtempo numbers include "Player Not The Game", "She Cood Neva B Me", "Saturday" and "How Many Times". And of course, there's the hit "Superwoman Pt. II" with Fabolous. The down side: A little misleading advertising - listeners lured into this CD by the funky electronic bleeps of "Superwoman Pt. II" should NOT expect more of the same. The rest of the CD is largely comprised of midtempo housewife R & B material (although there is "Gangsta", an unnecessary uptempo number built off Snoop's "Gin & Juice"). And the songs are mostly just average, even the better ballads mentioned above. It's the kind of sweet material that plays just fine in the background. There's nothing dreadful about any of it, but there's nothing transcendent either. Not much that steps above the level of routine filler on a Kelly Price or Faith Evans CD. In other words, its a nice first effort, a fine three star CD of the moment. But I find it unlikely that folks will be playing this one much beyond this year, after which plenty of new average "one hit" CDs will come along to replace it. I remain impressed by Lil Mo's singing and writing efforts. I hope that the songs improve even more with experience. And I recommend that buyers either hold out for a cheap used copy of this - or hold out a few years to see if Lil Mo makes it big enough to merit a 'greatest hits' collection. If she does, I'm sure it'll have the best tracks from this, and if she doesn't last - you probably won't have missed much.

A rather good cd. Songs like "how many times" and "saturday" are very good. Why did she release "gangsta" i don't know. that song stinks. The album is a must buy, and what i find is so cool, is the outro, where she says "because this is the the end, don't mean it gotta be over, we friends now". lil mo is a talented singer however what's with releasing the album 1 year after the first single. Ta da was out since summer 2000.

Lil Mo has been everywhere on Jay-z single "Parkin Lot Pimpin, Ja rule "I Cry" and "Put it on Me", Keith Sweat, Missy Elliot,2Pac's latest album, Angie Martinez,Nicole Wray's Last album. Her voice is truly one to take notice to. Supawoman I and II are both bangin singles. She is one of the hottest R&B/Hip Hop singers out now. With a deep vocal background, she shows her range through the album. "My Story" kicks it right off for this vocal life picture. Get this album, One Of the best of 2001. Regards. One.

i remember this album when I was 14. I loved this album and it is tight and she can blow like any other diva. The album is like a chapter in her life,as every song is a reflection of her. With soul and clarity, each song is deliciously brewed and produced under a kaleidoscope of lush instrumentation. She co-wrote some of the songs. This album should have been promoted more. Remember, this was 2001.

Lil' Mo has a beautiful, strong voice, but this album really doesn't do her justice. Her vocals on here are fine and the writing is good, but the production, especially near the end, sort of ruins it. In songs like "She Cood Neva B Me," it gets very cheesy, basic and karaoke-like. (And it doesn't help that I've heard umpteen different versions of "Time After Time," a song that I didn't care all too much for in the first place.) Some songs stand out. By no means is Based On A True Story terrible, it is more like average, but I would recommend her second album above this one.

I wasn't feeling this album in its entirety when I listened to it for the first time, but now I realize that this is truly a masterpiece. Her vocals and smooth R&B harmonies are just perfect. I love this album. You all should definately get it. Standout tracks include "Supa Star," "My Story," "Player Not The Game," "Gangsta" (which is sung to the tune of Snoop Dogg's "Gin & Juice", and her cover of the Cyndi Lauper classic "Time After Time." It's evident that Lil' Mo took great care to give us a beautiful album. All of my prayers are with her after her incident in San Francisco, where she was hit in the head with a champagne bottle. Lord bless this wondrous singer.

This CD is pretty good, for a debut. It shows that Lil Mo has a lot of potential. Her voice is very powerful, and she knows how to use it. She wrote 12 of the 15 tracks included on this album. Has mostly midtempo tracks, with the exception of the Cyndi Lauper cover "Time After Time". Mo didn't write any of the ballads on here... so she hasn't really begun to start experimenting on her own with those. The track "Player Not The Game" feat. Carl Thomas is one of the highlights. Midtempo with spanish guitars in the backround, nicely done. Coulda done without "My Story", which although nice, is pure filler. All in all, Lil Mo is showing that she has what it takes to make it in this industry. The second album is gonna be better, after a little more experience she will be a very polished artist. But pick this one up too, if you're in the mood for some from the heart R&B jams. No lyrics included, which is a downside as well.
