5.0 out of 5 stars The only hardcore band I continue to listen to...
'Blood, Sweat, and No Tears' blew me away back in the late 80's when I was introduced to Sick of it All while letting my friend put in a cassette tape a buddy of his had dubbed for him while we skated. Ever since, I've listened to Sick of it All. The lyrical sincerity, the gritty guitars, and the skull-crushing drums always put a smile on my face. Everything this band...

2.0 out of 5 stars Sick Of It All is not for me
I found a reference to Sick Of It All while checking out Killing Time. I previewed their albums through Amazon (which is like...every other album). They sounded alright...but very repetitive. Every album sounded just about the same, but Based on a True Story sounded slightly heavier, so I decided to give it a go. Some of these songs appeal to a heavy metal fan like me,...

Everything this band puts out somehow topples their previous effort. I knew they would have a bit of a challenge on their hands topping their previous effort, 'Death to Tyrants,' but in true SOIA fashion, they outdid themselves.

The production on the last album and this album really embody how Sick of it All sound live and is something I've always hoped they could bottle in the studio. Tue Madsen does an amazing production job. Standout tracks are 'The Divide,' 'Dominated,' 'Waiting for the Day,' and the tribute to CBGB's Sunday H/C matinee shows, 'A Month of Sundays.' Their dedication to their craft and their unwavering spirit is truly a rare find nowadays in hardcore, though it makes sense for a band that helped put this style of music on the map to still be an uncompromising force. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still got it, April 20, 2010
This review is from: Based on a True Story (Audio CD)
If you've been paying attention, Sick of it All seems to be the only punk/hardcore band that is actually getting better with age. Think about it. After being introduced to them with Scratch The Surface, literally every album is better than the last--more passion, better production, same great band.

I was truly blown away by Death To Tyrants, so it was great to hear SOIA was teaming up with Tue Madsen again. True Story is more of the hard-hitting, working class anthems that these guys have been delivering since I was in diapers. We should all be grateful.

siack of it all had this special something in the old day that made them simply great hardcore, and SOIA never changes but they evolve with times and bands and styles changing massively SOIA tried new thing and made small ajustments to their way of hardcore but since death to tyrant they have found the old school vein again and done it better than before with new viggor and heavier than ever.

I found a reference to Sick Of It All while checking out Killing Time. I previewed their albums through Amazon (which is like...every other album). They sounded alright...but very repetitive. Every album sounded just about the same, but Based on a True Story sounded slightly heavier, so I decided to give it a go. Some of these songs appeal to a heavy metal fan like me, but most of it sounded like that up-beat punkish stuff. And, just as I thought, it is pretty repetitive. I took five songs from this, and although that would usually warrant a 3-star review from me, Sick Of It All's songs are just too short for me to be that generous.
