As a long-time fan of DJ Rekha and her Basement Bhangra parties, this release is a tremendous listen and brings out all of the best elements of bhangra and hip-hop. I particularly liked "Boli Panieh", "Teri Toor" and "Snake Charmer".

Heard about this CD on NPR and I'm happy to have it as an overview of this music. I'm an over 60 jazz buff but enjoy having some variety in my music collection. I also enjoy some world music, but am no expert. This fusion is good road music (just took it on a 6000-mile drive), but it does start to sound a lot alike after a while.

I pre-ordered this one!! My friends in NYC have been talking and going to Basement Bhangra for years. I've never made it to the NYC ones, but during the album release she was down in Philly and I made it out (and bought 3 t-shirts) ... chak de!! This CD is straight up sick/hot/amazing. Tracks 1,4, and 8 are my favorite. thanks Rekha and looking forward to the next one.

From the first track to the last, DJ Rekha Presents Basement Bhangra brings together the old skool and the new...seamlessly. She has her finger on the pulse and brings together an all star cast of musicians. It's impossible to listen to this album without raising your shoulders and moving your feet to the beats that DJ Rekha drops. "Do your research"...Fresh, fun, real and honest.

My dad's a drummer (so am I) and we both love bhangra, but dislike the whole dance mix bhangra thing. The tracks on this CD have fantastic percussion and the music's interesting enough that my (anti-bhangra) mum likes it, too =D

I have been to basement bhangra at SOB several times. I really enjoy the music there and had high expectations from this CD. Even though I like the CD but it is below my expectations. I think it's good but I have a better time at basement bhangra. Don't regret the purchase though.

Like many americans i didn't know that Indian music can be so rhythmic, and catching, the sounds and beats will easily make you move your feet and hands. The beats are very hip hop inspired. i watched a movie a while back and some of the sounds were cool and decided to order a cd that captured that vibe . This has surpassed my expectations. If u like dancy rhythms with a hip hop inspired vibe get this.

This CD is an excellent example of what the world does when the boundaries that falsely seperate cultures are ignored & Music is allowed to be the bridge. Loving it! My 12 year old LOVES this music. I hope she will be a student of ALL music, not just what is considered Culturally significant. Thanks!

Only few songs are good...others are just okay...I had better experience when I was in club..

As a fan of DJ Rekha for many, many years, I cannot tell you how pysched I am that she finally has an album out. The ONLY downside to her shows were that when it was over, you couldn't keep listening to her infectious grooves and beats in the car on the way home (or at home at your own personal Basement Bhangra party!). Suffice to say, this is going to be my go to holiday gift this year.
