5.0 out of 5 stars Lemon Fresh in the Limelight, November 3, 1999

The spiritual descendents of Badfinger, the Raspberries and Marshall Crenshaw, Starbelly don't break any new ground here, they simply pave it with perfect harmonies and more hooks than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Each song here is a standout, and if this were 1977, perhaps some of these songs would be in AM radio rotation, alongside "Baby Blue" and "Go All The Way".

So, if you are looking for the ultimate CD to play endlessly on those long summer days at the beach (Rehoboth Beach, Delaware?), this is it.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lemon Fresh...squeaky clean power pop!, March 26, 2000
This review is from: The Basement Tapes Plus (Audio CD)
If you can appreciate power pop from the likes of Jason Falkner, Jellyfish and Umajets, you'll love the sound of Starbelly. The songs are hook-laden, but that's not to say that they're in any way simplistic. Cliff's vocal talent is nothing short of perfection, and all the guys put on one heckuva live show. If you buy this CD for one reason only, let it be because of "Better Than Myself".

5.0 out of 5 stars My fave record of 1998 and beyond!, November 15, 1999

Starbelly have vocal harmonies unmatched in modern pop music today. It's almost kismet. Cliff Hillis plays a MEAN guitar, and Greg Schroeder is one of the best pop drummers out there, no question. Combined with Dennis Schocket's pop-sensible bass and melody, this is a tip top record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just In Concert!, July 10, 2005
This review is from: The Basement Tapes Plus (Audio CD)
These guys definatly can rock! They played at a place called Max's today in Baltimore, Maryland. Personally, I absolutely love these guys. Think of a Green Day cd but add much better lyrics. I'm a teenager and loved it. Even friends ages 9-45 like it! Please check it out! There other album is great too! Plus, they informed me that they will be releasing a new album soon! Enjoy people!
