More About the Author
Simon Cleveland has been entertaining readers around the globe since 2004 when his debut novel The Basenji Revelation, a modern-day psychological thriller examining the relationship between humankind and its obsession with the myths of ancient civilizations, was featured in the Midwest Book Review's "addictive and suspenseful" reading list.
Born in 1975 in Europe, Simon fell in love with creative writing during elementary school where at age 7 he composed his first anthropomorphic essay.
In his teens, he pursued higher education in the United States. During his junior year in college, he took a course on ethnicity in literature which changed forever his perceptions on cultural uniqueness, language, values and beliefs. It was through the works of Charles Blake Johnson, Toni Morrison, James Baldwin, Ana Castillo and Richard Rodriquez that Simon Cleveland witnessed the role culture played in the development of human personality.
Simon Cleveland holds a Bachelors Degree from George Mason University, a Masters Degree from The George Washington University, and is presently a Ph.D. candidate at Nova Southeastern University. Simon has a successful career in the Information Technology field and has worked for companies like Time Warner America Online, Accenture, Avanade and General Dynamics. His most notable accomplishments are successful projects with NASA, Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security and the largest cancer research institution in the world MD Anderson Cancer Center.
In May of 2009, his latest novel, Descent The R. Connors Story, appeared in print. In this mainstream psychological suspense Simon Cleveland delivers a rare glimpse into the minds of identity-shattered individuals. Written in a vibrant style the novel reconciles misconceptions about self, sexual duality, and the mysterious raw forces of Nature.

So annoying,

This review is from: The Basenji Revelation (Kindle Edition)
It is a habit of mine that when I read a book I like, I tend to purchase more books written by the author. Not this time. I have only reached half way through this book and I am so disappointed. The book revolved around a basenji however the author obviously does not know much about basenjis or researched the breed very thoroughly. Putting that aside, the most annoying thing about his book is that he does not appear to have had anyone proof read the book before publishing. The amount of times I have had to think to myself, "what does the author mean by this word" is ridiculous. I gave it a rating of 1 star only because I could not give it a rating of 0 stars.

Uneven But Enjoyable,

Honestly I got this more for the subject matter (involving basenjis) than anything else, but I found it an enjoyable read. The writing is uneven--it feels much like a first novel--and there are periods where the action drags a bit. When it does pick up, however, it's a good read and the author does a good job of capturing some of the oddities of the basenji breed.
Worth getting, especially for basenji owners/fans.
