I bought one of Basher's book at a book fair at my kiddies' school and have been buying since. My kids LOVE these books! The explanation is easy to understand and Basher makes it fun for my kids. My son especially loves looking at the pictures. They are 9 and 11 and when the new book came, they almost fought for it. They take the books to school and share with the class and their classmates love them too. I am donating the set to the school library.

Who knew punctuation could be so much fun? My daughter LOVES Simon Basher's books, and immediately began gleefully looking for and identifying punctuation marks whenever they occurred, explaining in detail just what they did. From Hyphen to Colon to the lowly period, she considers them good friends. I'd love to see Simon Basher attack grammar next!

I read parts of this book to my class of middle school English language learners. It helps them relate to the punctuation in a more concrete way. Plus, this book is really entertaining! It spices up a dry grammar lesson every time.

Words Aren't Fair

Thank goodness you have stolen my idea! I recently wrote "Words Aren't Fair" as an aid to beginning readers and my next book was either going to be about grammar or punctuation. But I was having trouble figuring out how to present these topics. I thought it would be boring for kids. But, with what you did in your book, it is not boring at all! Great idea,especially as kids need lots of help with editing their written work. Your explanations were easy to understand and very accurate. Your book is an excellent contribution to the area of reading and writing!

Great book. Easy to understand. Uses work association wonderfully. Example: Parentheses " We are twins, full of gossip, juicy details, and small comments on things". The book reads in easy language that is aimed a the child, not the adult. The Pictures are 1-2D, bright colors and interesting.

My 10 yr old son, now 11, has fun with all these basher books, mostly the science titles and really learns from them.
