Editorial Reviews

American Craft Magazine, September 1996

"Za-artu is a master cinematographer, as is made evident by free-flowing slow-motion shots and carefully executed close-ups...Za-artu continues to display...a visual seductiveness that threatens to make fiber fetishists of us all.

American Craft Magazine, June/July 1999

This video from Cristobal Za-artu and Rebecca Clark is an excellent companion piece to their earlier "Textile Magicians: Japan"..."

5.0 out of 5 stars This video is so beautiful, June 28, 2002
This review is from: Basho To Spun Steel : Comtemporary Japanese Textile Design [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is so beautiful, I don't even know what to say about it. You see the artists as well as their work, their environment. You see the artists feeding silk worms, explaining how the food of the worm influences the color of the threads. Another artist is seen gathering bark to create natural dyes. This video is wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond words, May 7, 2008

This review is from: Basho To Spun Steel : Comtemporary Japanese Textile Design [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I watched From Basho to Spun Steel with two internationally known professional weavers. This video is so beautiful it brought tears to our eyes. The delicate beauty and strength of the silk, the fabrics and the people is beyond words. If you are a lover of the magic of textiles you must see this! Watch it with a child. Share it with everyone you know. It will change the way they look at cloth.
