Product Description

Aquarium: Perfect for calcium reactor and Freshwater Plant CO2 injection applications. Compatible with most CO2 atomizer and diffuser. Calcium Reactors and CO2 fertilization require far more precision in their dosing. Our Deluxe CO2 Regulator with solenoid is the best we've seen. Unit comes with dual gauges each with dual reading of both psi & kg/cm. Left gauge meters tank capacity and right gauge output pressure. Green house and Hydroponics: Carbon dioxide is one of the essential ingredients in green plant growth and is a primary environmental factor in greenhouses. CO2 enrichment at 2, 3 or four times natural concentration will cause plants to grow faster and improve plant will quality. The reason you will get more rapid and efficient growth and better plant quality with a higher CO2 level is because plants must absorb CO2 in combination with water, soil nutrients and sunlight which produces sugars which are vital for growth. If any of these elements are missing or low, plant growth will be retarded. When CO2 is increased to over 1000 ppm it results in higher production and plant quality. CO2 fertilization require far more precision in their dosing. Our Deluxe CO2 Regulator with solenoid is the best we've seen. Unit comes with dual gauges each with dual reading of both psi & kg/cm. Left gauge meters tank capacity and right gauge output pressure. With its fine tuning capabilities and electronic regulation, this CO2 Regulator meets the highest industry quality standard.

It's well made.

Like you just barely twist the valve and you get a substantial change in bubble count.

No complaints thus far, easy to install and works like a charm. I wonder why Aquatek includes a check valve/bubble counter but no 3-1 diffuser (?) As other reviewer suggested, this is not really a "complete system." Aside from the CO2 source, you need a diffuser/reactor and you need tubing.

I had some problems with the check valve/bubble counter. Basically, submerging it in water would not fill it up. I had to "inject" water from the aquarium with a syringe in order to make it work.

On a first run the system takes a while to settle, the gauges are meaningless for the first few minutes. Note that the precision needle valve closes to the right and opens to the left. Make sure you have it all the way to the right (closed) before you open the CO2 flow or you will get a CO2 gas flood. Then slowly adjust the rate by rotating the needle valve to the left and checking the bubble counter.

Regulator works well with CGA 320 valve. Would be nice if you can adjust pressure. Factory set at 30Psi. No issues with product and unit stays cool compared to more expensive units. Using with a 10LB CO2 tank in a 60 gallon planted tank.

At this price point I think you would be hard pressed to find anything that would compare to this regulator. I have had this for about a week and I'm completely satisfied. The needle valve is a little touchy but not so much that you can't dial in the amount of co2 you need. Once I set it, I never had to make any changes... So far ever time the solenoid shuts of and comes back on the bubble count returns to where I set it originally. Keep in mind I have a 120 gallon with a sump so I'm pushing a ton of co2. More bubble a second than I can realistically count. I highly recommend purchasing from Aquatek of California. My orginal packaging did not include the bubble counter as advertised. I left seller feedback noting that issue. Aquatek contacted me within minutes of leaving the feedback and sent me the bubble counter at no cost. That in my opinion is first class customer service. Thank you Aquatek.

It's a preset, complete system, except for your CO2 tank/cylinder/bottle.
I've been using one for about two years now and am very satisfied with mine. My only small regret was not buying it's big brother with six outlets. ;-)

I was torn between a four star review and a three star. I'll cover product quality first, then setup second.

The needle valve adjustment is annoyingly finicky. Barely touch it one way and the thing is practically off. Barely nudge it the other way and you have a bubble volcano in your bubble counter. Due to the nature of building gas/water pressure, there is a bit of a delay from adjusting the knob to a full response from the bubble counter. It reacts a bit immediately, but won't fully show the adjustment for a bit so juggling back and forth to get it right is seriously annoying. This might not be much of an issue if you are supplying a bigger aquarium with more CO2, but the lower range of the adjustment is blah. FYI I'm supplying a 28 gal. planted aquarium. That's my only complaint about this product. Keep in mind I'm using this with an adapter and a paintball CO2 tank, but I'm told that the version of this product made for that type of tank yields the same results, and this would do the same on a standard tank as well, at least at that low adjustment range.

A bit about setup planning with this product:

Please note that this item is designed for a standard CO2 tank with standard threading. Tanks that are used for paintball are slightly different threading and you will need an adapter or AQUATEK's smaller thread version of this. Attaching this to a standard tank that is standing upright will have the gauges facing straight OUT. Attaching this to a paintball tank standing up will have the gauges facing UP. This is also unstable and you'll either need to lay the tank down on a stand (the solenoid sticks out so it won't lie flat) or you'll need to strap the tank to something like a fire extinguisher.

I bought this because it was inexpensive. The output is set at 50PSI and is not adjustable. The needle valve is difficult to adjust - seems to be all or nothing.

I was able to adjust it to a 1 bubble/second flow rate. I have the unit on a timer. However, when the timer kicks on after being off all night, there is no CO2 flow. I have to open the needle valve and adjust it back down to get the rate I want. Defeats the point of having a solenoid/timer set up.

Not sure what to do next. Either buy extra stuff to get it to work correctly or return it. If anyone else has had the same experience, I would like to know.

This is a great regulator, my only complaint would be that i wish that the adjuster for the flow was larger and more finely grained, it can be hard to actuate small changes in flow.
