I would recommend this product to someone who was looking for a simple down to earth skills and methods to being an effective counselor. There is alot of question and response activities for you to personally apply and do. So it gives a skill and then wants you to experience the skill. If you are looking for a high end informational discussion this is not the book to get. It is like here is a chainsaw now look at what it does and go cut down and tree and see how it goes. obviously, the practices aren't actually with real clients but having case studies with people you know. so a good book to go through with a participating and evaluating group study.
