Best instrument ever!,

This review is from: Basic Beat 5.75" Black Cowbell
Wow, what can I say?
I just received this awesome instrument as a birthday gift, and I'm extremely impressed. Are you in a band with a song that seems lacking? Just lay down some cowbell and you're sure to soar to the top of the charts. The cowbell is indeed what separates the mediocre musicians from the true stars. Don't believe me? Check out these songs that have featured the cowbell. "Don't Fear The Reaper" - Blue Oyster Cult "Honky Tonk Women" - The Rolling Stones "Only Time Will Tell" - Asia "Play That Funky Music" - Wild Cherry "Crosseyed And Painless" - Talking Heads "Slave To Love" - Bryan Ferry "Funkytown" - Lipps, Inc. "Drown" - Son Volt "We're An American Band" - Grand Funk Railroad "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" - Bachman-Turner Overdrive "Spinning Wheel" - Blood, Sweat and Tears "Jungle Love" - The Steve Miller Band "She's Crafty" - Beastie Boys "Fly Me Courageous" - Drivin' N' Cryin' "Gimme Three Steps" - Lynyrd Skynyrd "Coconut" - Harry Nilsson "Evil Woman" - Electric Light Orchestra "King Of Rock" - Run-D.M.C. "Shake Me" - Cinderella "Fat Man In The Bathtub" - Little Feat "Unbelievable" - EMF "Once In A Lifetime" - Talking Heads "Some Like It Hot" - The Power Station "Welcome To The Jungle" - Guns N' Roses "Last Night" - Northern State RIP Gene Frenkle

The last Cowbell you'll ever need!,
By
This review is from: Basic Beat 5.75" Black Cowbell
Looking back on my long musical career, I have played many instruments, but I keep coming back to my first love... the cowbell. Oh sure, I've tried them all - from triangle to wood block but I have never felt so in tune with any other instrument than the Cowbell.
I have many different cowbells in my collection. Most of these are for a particular mood only. If I am feeling somewhat polka, I always reach for my signature "Shmenge Brothers #6" with the zebrawood handle... for rock it is my "Gussmann Blue-Steel Screamer"... jazz see's me grab my "Trini Lopez Limmited Addition Melody Master" knock-off. But here is the finest single cowbell I have ever played. It has such a full & pleasant sound it seems to go with any type of music I play. My group was shocked when I showed up to our last gig and I only brought this little beauty with me. They protested at first and even threatened not to do the show, but their fears quickly disovled when I brought the house down with our first song of the night. I can only close with this... Buy this Cowbell and see if I am not right! This thing is a Godsend for any serious cowbeller out there. You will reach new areas of playing that you did not even think were possible.

I bought this cowbell solely for the sake of performing Rent's "Over the Moon" piece for a monologue competition--and it was wonderful. I'm very happy with the quality of its construction and it was perfect.

There isn't much to say about a cowbell. Except I gotta have more. Here is the scoop - this is a fine cowbell, overall quality is good, it is well built with decent spot-welds, and the black finish is nice. You can easily change the sustain and tinniness by manipulating your grip using proper cowbell technique. With that said, this cowbell is a bit on the small side - therefore it is a bit tinny. I prefer a deeper cowbell, more of a tonk tonk tonk vs. a tink tink tink, so I will probably get a taller one and give this one to my little brother(because let's face it - a small cowbell is better than no cowbell). So...my advice is get a bigger one! 6 to 7" should be perfect. I'VE GOT A FEVER BABY, AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS MORE COWBELL!

More cowbell!,

In the immortal words of Christopher Walken: "I got a fever! And the only prescription... is MORE COWBELL!"
Fans of the popular Saturday Night Live skit will probably want to join the masses and start playing the cowbell, the musical instrument of the 21st century.

I love this cowbell. It's not the exact pitch as the one featured on "Don't Fear the Reaper", but it is the same or very close to the same pitch that the band War used on it's tunes such as "Low Rider". Either way, it works for any song. Plus, if you are the type, take it to any sporting event and have fun with it. This appears to be very well-made and should last forever, although I don't expect the black finish to hold up forever after the beating I will put it through. Who cares? It's a cowbell! Beat the hell out of it, and get the Meinl beater to go along with it, as I expect it to last a lot longer than a regular drumstick. So far, so good. Also, this cowbell has a handle so you can hang it or hold it by the handle in order to get different tones. Most importantly, have fun with this.

I got this cowbell to let a 'lucky audience' member play when our band is playing that song that makes everyone want more cowbell. This cowbell has a nice full sound, great tone and is a must for any band that is looking for some audience participation.

My son and I take this to the Tampa Rays and baseball games. We bought a small baseball bat pen that we use to ring the bell. Very loud, very good sound. More Cowbell! Go Rays!
