The pieces are held together with a sturdy fabric cord. These castanets produce a louder than the Basic Beat Rectangular Wood Castanets (available separately). Total dimensions are approximately 8" long x 1.75" wide at the widest point.

these are cool little additions to any up and coming drum circle. attach 'em to a djembei like i did and mix it in or have a designated clapper. they're worth the 5 bucks

I bought this as I gift for friends who had their "drumming stuff' stolen in a house burglary. I'm going to have to get one for myself; I can't put the thing down! Deceptively simple, but loads of fun. A great addtion to a rhythm instrument collection, and perfect for drumming circle newbies.
