Basic 4

Need a great reason to rise in the morning? Deliciously unique and satisfying, Basic 4 cereal invites you to breakfast with a mouth-watering mix of cranberries, raisins, almonds, and clusters.

A harvest of wholesome sweetness, this healthful fruit and nut medley is harmonized with the crunch of whole grain flakes and a touch of brown sugar.

Like all Big G cereals, Basic 4 is made with whole grain, which deliver vitamins, minerals, fiber and other nutrients.

That’s important, because the 2010 Dietary Guidelines recommend getting more whole grain into your diet.

Why cereal?
When you consider the benefits of cereal, you’ll see why it is a great breakfast choice.

Ready-to-eat cereals are rich in important vitamins and minerals, yet lower in calories than many other breakfast options.

Cereal eaters also consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than noncereal eaters

The benefits of Big G cereals
All General Mills Big G cereals have whole grain as the first ingredient. Just look for the white check!

Cereal is already one of the healthiest breakfast choices you can make. And the entire Big G cereal line is made with whole grains, making breakfast even healthier.

Scientific evidence that whole grain is good for your body.

Five Ways Whole Grains Can Change Your Life:

  1. Heart health. Heart-healthy diets rich in whole grain foods can reduce the risk of heart disease.
  2. Reduce cancer risk. Low fat diets rich in fiber-containing grain products, fruits and vegetables may reduce the risk of some types of cancer, particularly of the stomach and colon.
  3. Manage diabetes. The American Diabetes Association recommends whole grain as part of a diabetic diet.
  4. Keep you regular. Fiber from whole grains promotes regularity and keeps the intestines working smoothly to help maintain good digestive health.
  5. Weight management. A growing body of evidence supports that people who eat more whole grain tend to have healthier body weights and gain less weight over time than those who don’t.

My entire family used to eat only Basic4. For last 8-12 months we tried few different ones but again ordered this from Amazon. It didn't taste as good as before. Either GM has altered the proportions or it was a bad batch. It has got more puffed rice and less fruits and nuts. We didn't like it as much as we used to love it.

This cereal used to have plums and that was the best part about it. Maybe they are cutting costs but at $5 a box you think they could have left them in. The original Basic 4 cereal was a five stars for sure, but now that those awesome plums are gone I am struggling to give it three stars. Now that I think about it, Basic 4 also used to have dates and those were removed as well. Why after so many years would they do that?

I've been eating this cereal for years. It's great. I wake up, eat some cereal, save a few planets from destruction, herd tribbles, and retire for the evening. All the while, I'm "regular" and not full of sugar.

This is a good choice if you want to have a good balance of raisins, almonds and other fruit. It's not as sweet as other mainstream cereals. I buy from Amazon because the cost is a bit less than my local supermarket and I get to save on taxes. They also ship it in regular increments of time, which works out for me. I find auto delivery convenient and the product is in no way compromised.

I have liked this cereal from the first day that I tried it a couple of years ago. It does not seem to have as much fruit in it now as it used to, but it is still good.

This cereal tastes great. The entire mixture of raisins, berries, nuts, and those chewy yogurty things alone would probably be "meh" but put them together and you're in for an amazing harmony of flavors!

I eat cold cereal at least 6 times per week. Basic 4 is my "base" cereal, after which I add "the flavor of the day" cereal, followed by "Fiber One" (to get my fiber). Basic 4 is a little high in the sugar content which (right or wrong) I figure is due to all of the dried fruit in it.
