With its complete, interactive, objective-based approach, Basic College Mathematics is the best-seller in this market. The Eighth Edition provides mathematically sound and comprehensive coverage of the topics considered essential in a basic college math course. Furthermore, the Instructor's Annotated Edition features a comprehensive selection of instructor support material. The Aufmann Interactive Method is incorporated throughout the text, ensuring that students interact with and master the concepts as they are presented. This approach is especially important in the context of rapidly growing distance-learning and self-paced laboratory situations.

2.0 out of 5 stars Way too expensive, and needs suplimentation, December 15, 2007

This review is from: Basic College Mathematics: An Applied Approach (Paperback)
I've taught out of this book for several semesters, since the department requires it. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. It's way too expensive, and I found the explanations given by the authors lack in some way or another. Students taking this course at any college usually won't receive any credit towards graduation. Having a text book that costs over $50 for such a class is simply criminal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended but not on my level., February 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Pretty much what my title says. They give very good example and lessons just I feel that my knowledge is a bit above this book but I bought as a course requirement but not a bad choice by any means.
