The Best Jr. High Math Curriculum,
This review is from: Basic College Mathematics (6th Edition) (Paperback)
I'm a homeschooling mom of 7, and this is the best math curriculum I've ever used for Jr. High. Two of my daughters have used this in 7th and 8th grades and then went right into algebra without any problems. This book is so thorough in explaining each process that very little help was ever needed, and since then they've used this same company's curriculum to teach themselves algebra and geometry. I recommend this to anybody who wants a very easy to use and excellent math curriculum. (By the way, don't let the title fool you. As a much more famous reviewer once said, "A bright 5th grader can use this book successfully.")

Excellent Teaching Vehicle,

This review is from: Basic College Mathematics (6th Edition) (Paperback)
Not having paid much attention in school (60 yrs ago) and learning computer programming dicated the need for a refresher course in basic mathematics. The author's approach to teaching is to demonstrate the problem and its various solutions and then provide numerous (up to 60 or more problems for the student to work. Answers are provided only for the odd-numbered review exercises. Chapter tests and cumulative review exercises have answers to all the problems. The text is written in clear language that is easily understandable. As with all endeavors effort is needed on the part of the student. The title is somewhat misleading in that I view this book as a "review" or "refersher" course in basic math not as an introduction to college mathematics which I assumed to be on a much higher plane. At the present I am a third of the way through the book and enjoy it. I highly recommend this book for someone who needs to catch up on their abc's of math. Unlike a lot of books this one has plenty of the hands-on approach to doing math. If you need to learn numbers, this is the place to start.

This book was in good shape and cheap. It took a little longer than expected to get but not too bad. It was very helpful. Thank you.

very disappointed,
This review is from: Basic College Mathematics (6th Edition) (Paperback)
I wrote the company a note and asked for expedited shipment because I could not find it on the order form and they didn't give it to me. It took two weeks for the book to get to me. Granted the book was in good shape but I begged them and told them that I was willing to pay extra money for faster shipment and then I told them if they couldn't to email me and cancel the order. I just don't understand people don't the want to build good business practices, who cares if you lose one sale. At least you are keeping people happy and not getting bad remarks.
