Basic Comfort Breathe Safe Padded Sheet

I wish I'd had this to begin with! I have a 15 month old and am expecting any day now. I bought one to try and will be buying another for the new baby. I love that this is waterproof and acts as both a mattress cover and crib sheet. Best of all though are the safety factor and convenience of how it attaches with snaps. Now I don't have to worry about my child pulling up the crib sheet and becoming strangled with it, because it is securely snapped around the crib bars. The snaps also make changing the sheet SOOO much easier, which is especially important when you still have the bumpers on your crib, are pregnant again (like me), and/or have a child who spits up or leaks a lot(our 1st baby had reflux), requiring frequent sheet changes! (I'm buying one for the crib at Grammie's house too, to make changing them easier on my mom). I just wish it came in other colors besides white, to match the crib decor and to not show stains as much, but otherwise this is a terrific product!

I bought this mattress pad without realizing that this goes over and on top of your crib sheet. It was difficult to tell in pictures and you couldn't open it in the store. I have a 3 month old now and it is too rough on her facial skin, where she wakes up with the imprint of the quilt pattern on her face. I took it off and bought another so her face can rest on a crib sheet that is softer, not the mattress pad - otherwise why do you need a crib sheet? I will save it for a later time when she produces more fluids that come out of her body, but for now I think it is overkill since we have never needed to use its waterproofing system.

We received one of these as a gift when our first child was born. We then bought a second (one to wash and one to use, as someone else said), and when our second child was born one year after the first, we got a third pad. We also used them under the sheets of the full-size bed when the kids graduated to that (though they tend to shift, and you have to position them in the key area, but it protected the mattress and was more comfortable than the full-size waterproof mattress pads).

This is now the very practical gift that I give to any new parents or parents-to-be. It saved me tons of time and effort, and I just like to pass on the favor to others. Very practical, not very cutsie, but extremely useful and generally well-appreciated by anyone who uses it.

I absolutely love this product. It's so quick and easy to change-it literally takes me 30 seconds. I don't know what I would do without it.

We were given one of these by a friend with the rest of her baby bedding. I was not sure how to work the thing, but when she explained it just goes on top of the mattress and you "snap" it around the crib slats, I was THOROUGHLY excited. It is time consuming, nail breaking, and tough to change most cribs today with the heavy duty mattresses and I literally have not had to change out my baby's crib sheet. The crib sheet is a cute decoration, but she really sleeps on top of the mattress pad. It's soft and REALLY comfortable and worth every penny.

Got this for my then newborn and thought it was a life saver until she started soiling it months later and then realized it isn't all that easy to get on and off. With 8 snap on straps, it's a hassle to move the crib away from the wall and snap on/off on a regular basis. I realized changing the crib sheet was just easier. With crib mattresses being vinyl covered, why do we need waterproof sheets anyway. I just slip off her fitted sheet and wipe up any wetness off the vinyl - so simple. Sometimes good marketing convinces us that we need useless products. By the way, two of the straps broke off in the wash, thank God it was after I realized I didn't need this anyway.

When we first bought our baby's mattress, it did not have any unusual odors at all. We washed the Ultimate Mattress Pad before using it, but after a short time, we began to smell an odor on the mattress that became stronger with time. We finally replaced the mattress and once again had a mattress that was stench-free. By this time we had purchased an organic mattress pad as well. Use of the organic did not cause any problem, but since we had not yet put two and two together (not smart), we put the Ultimate Mattress Pad on our new mattress just one time and sure enough it began to smell. We now use only organic mattress pads and only one side of the mattress. The side that never came in contact with the Ultimate Mattress Pad smells just fine, but the side that we did use it on has a stench you don't want your baby sleeping on. I guess you need to make sure you put a sheet between the mattress pad and the crib. We actually put the sheet over the mattress pad because the surface seemed so rough that we didn't want our little boy sleeping directly on it. When we did try that, he woke up with a mesh-imprinted face.

We have twins and these mattress pads are much more convenient than trying to wrestle with getting new sheets on the cribs in the middle of the night. They are holding up well through frequent washings and are easy to attach. I gave it 4 stars because it's not extremely soft, though it isn't bad. I also like that the top layer is breathable - gives me peace of mind.

I have a seven month old that has spit up and drooled since he was born. This mattress pad is the best at keeping the moisture off of him. I would recommend buying two, so you always have one on the bed when washing the other.
