Wow, who would have guessed that these books might have survived all these years. I wrote the original "hangman" game that was in the book, on a PDP8/I and a teletype while a sophomore in Highscool, @ 1974-75. Programs were submitted by anyone that had a game and if your game was published, you recieved a free copy of the book. It was a happy day for me when I recived mine. I can tell you, these books, while having rather primitive games by todays standards, can give a historical insight like no other into the minds of the people from all over the computing world who helped shape the computing world we have today.

There were several editions of this book. I helped test the programs for one edition, using a Teletype attached to a Heathkit computer at Creative Computing magazine (that was the best printer we had). It would be interesting to see some of these books from the very early days of personal computing reprinted. This was still six years before the IBM PC came out and brought the first standardized and affordable diskette format into use!

Using Dartmouth BASIC, this book has 101 Text Only BASIC Games that are good for BASIC Programmers looking to learn how to write simple games. The BASIC code can be converted to any Microsoft BASIC Computer like the old TRS-80, Apple //, Commodore Vic-20 and 64, Atari 400/800/etc, Coleco ADAM, and so on.

I wish this book was in stock, it is a classic! A real part of history as in how games used to be before we had graphics and object oriented programming! It might never be reprinted. If anyone finds where the source code for these games are on the Internet, please e-mail me the location, as I want to try them.
