The set comes with 1- and 2-quart saucepans with lids, a 6-quart Dutch oven with lid, an 8-inch sauté pan, a 10-inch frying pan, and four nylon kitchen tools: a regular spoon, a slotted spoon, a long turner, and a pasta server.

The cookware is made of heavy-gauge hard-anodized aluminum for superior heat conductivity and durability. In addition, the aluminum surface is nonporous, nonreactive to acidic foods, and scratch-resistant. The interior of each pan has a dimpled Teflon nonstick coating for healthier cooking and quick cleaning. Lids are made of shatterproof tempered glass and have a unique steam vent in their plastic knobs that helps prevent foods from overcooking. All handles are made of dimpled plastic, which reduces the chance of pans slipping from your hands, and are triple-riveted for strength. I bought a Basics Essentials teflon coated set at Shopko. The first time I cooked with them the teflon came off onto the noodles and hamburger I cooked. The company warranty is that they would replace it if you send them another $8. Why would I want to replace them and eat more teflon! After using them several times and gently cleaning them all the teflon was gone and rust appeared! Happened on 2 of the 5 pans I tried. Also happened to the set I gave to my daughter as a gift. Buy Tramontina teflon or tri ply stainless steel cookware. Love Tramontina - great quality. Basic Essential pans are the worse ever.

I purchased this set at Shopko, thinking I had gotten a great deal. The teflon coating is a joke. From the first use, everything sticks to the pans even when using oil in large quantities, and hot water doesn't soak off stuck on food. Cleaning requires heavy scrubbing which removes the coating and leaves rust spots.

I am an experienced cook used to different cookware, and I never use anything in my pans except wooden spoons and nylon utensils, so the coating should have lasted a long while. Also the rivets on the handles are situated so that it's easy to burn one's hands, as they get very hot. The coating flakes off in the pots. Call me strange, but for some odd reason, I don't think teflon is healthy to consume.

Rather than throw out my food or die of cancer, I plan on throwing the set out, along with the utensils, which are soft and the nylon peels off of after one use.

Never again will I waste my money on Basic Essentials cookware. I feel ripped off by this company.

HORRID stuff! The 'teflon' has come off, then they've rusted, the pots have all become warped so lids don't fit. The set was originally $130 but I got them on a Black Friday deal in 2009. Got rid of all my other cookware thinking these would be fabulous. It's so nice to be cooking something (especially for a 1 year old and 5 year old) when suddenly there are black flecks throughout the food -- more teflon coming off. You either spend an hour trying to pick everything out to salvage the food or you give up and throw the whole thing out. WASTE OF MONEY ALL THE WAY AROUND!!
