5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful set
I just recived this set, and i'm extremely happy so far. They cook evenly, heat quickly, and clean-up is EASY. They are wonderfuly non-stick. And on top of it, they give you the utensils so you won't ever scratch them. I was a little worried this cookware would suck because of how much they're giving you for the price, but this is definetly good cookware. I highly...

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid Basic Essentials Teflon Sticks to your Food, April 28, 2009
This review is from: Basic Essentials 12-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I bought a Basics Essentials teflon coated set at Shopko. The first time I cooked with them the teflon came off onto the noodles and hamburger I cooked. The company warranty is that they would replace it if you send them another $8. Why would I want to replace them and eat more teflon! After using them several times and gently cleaning them all the teflon was gone and rust appeared! Happened on 2 of the 5 pans I tried. Also happened to the set I gave to my daughter as a gift. Buy Tramontina teflon or tri ply stainless steel cookware. Love Tramontina - great quality. Basic Essential pans are the worse ever.

1.0 out of 5 stars Basic Crap, November 24, 2009
This review is from: Basic Essentials 12-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I purchased this set at Shopko, thinking I had gotten a great deal. The teflon coating is a joke. From the first use, everything sticks to the pans even when using oil in large quantities, and hot water doesn't soak off stuck on food. Cleaning requires heavy scrubbing which removes the coating and leaves rust spots.

I am an experienced cook used to different cookware, and I never use anything in my pans except wooden spoons and nylon utensils, so the coating should have lasted a long while. Also the rivets on the handles are situated so that it's easy to burn one's hands, as they get very hot. The coating flakes off in the pots. Call me strange, but for some odd reason, I don't think teflon is healthy to consume.

Rather than throw out my food or die of cancer, I plan on throwing the set out, along with the utensils, which are soft and the nylon peels off of after one use.

Never again will I waste my money on Basic Essentials cookware. I feel ripped off by this company.

1.0 out of 5 stars I'd rather cook in a microwave forever than ever use these again!!!!, September 11, 2010
This review is from: Basic Essentials 12-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set (Kitchen)
HORRID stuff! The 'teflon' has come off, then they've rusted, the pots have all become warped so lids don't fit. The set was originally $130 but I got them on a Black Friday deal in 2009. Got rid of all my other cookware thinking these would be fabulous. It's so nice to be cooking something (especially for a 1 year old and 5 year old) when suddenly there are black flecks throughout the food -- more teflon coming off. You either spend an hour trying to pick everything out to salvage the food or you give up and throw the whole thing out. WASTE OF MONEY ALL THE WAY AROUND!!

I agree with other reviewers. Rust, coating peals off, food burns and sticks...thought I got a great bargain. I am shopping once again for cookware.

1.0 out of 5 stars Can I give these minus stars?, July 25, 2010
This review is from: Basic Essentials 12-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I got this set of pans when I moved to a new place. After the first use, the top ring rusts, so I guess you can't get them wet. After frying hot-dogs in the big fry pan, the bottom of the pan turned black, both on the inside and on the outside! Whatever I cook in the frying pans, sticks. The worst (and I should have realized this before) was scrambled eggs. When I went to clean the pan, the pan coating was coming off with mild scrubbing. I like the extra utensils, so I guess why these guys get one star... However, I would rather of just bought a set of spatulas...

I wish I could take these things back, because they certainly can't be used for cooking!

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, April 26, 2010
This review is from: Basic Essentials 12-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set (Kitchen)
Got these at shopko. They had a warranty which required the UPC. With the UPC gone, shopko wouldn't take them back. These things are terrible. The stick, they bulge out so the pan isn't flush against the burner (this only happens after head is applied to them, and very low heat at that). [...]

1.0 out of 5 stars Basic Essentials lit my kitchen on fire., November 23, 2009
This review is from: Basic Essentials 12-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set (Kitchen)
So we got these pans at Shopko for like $80.00 thinking they were good pans. We had a previous set that were terrible so we thought these ones would be a major upgrade. NOT SO MUCH. The DAY we got them we used them, the teflon chipped off in the food, the red outside was now a charred black and grey color and the burner had almost burnt through the bottom of the pan.
Being on a limited budget and not being able to afford another hundred dollars worth of pans we just decided to grin and bear the situation and cook our food on a lower temperature for a long period of time. which we shouldnt have to do but it was the only way to keep the teflon from flaking off the bottom of the pan. Soon there after my boyfriend was cooking and the bottom of the pan became engulfed in flames. It was so worn and frail that it just started on fire. Mind you, weve had these pans for 3 months. After almost burning our house down with the 2 foot flames i decided to write a nasty review to try and help those in search of new cookwear. Also, all the spatulas, slotted spoons, and ladles were good for one use before they became warped due to boiling water. Never had i seen that happen just from stirring noodles. So needless to say, unless you want to burn your house down and be ripped off, these pans probably arent for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cracked handles, August 6, 2006

I have to agree with the previous review. We bought a set of cookware for our beach house a year ago and the handles are all now cracked! These pot and pans are not even used everyday and I do take care of them. I would not buy this brand again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother with Basic Essentials, April 19, 2006
This review is from: Basic Essentials 12-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I bought this set (not through Amazon so no reflection on them) and it was just fine for less than a year. Then the lid handles all cracked and now I've notice the actual pot handle on the larger pot has cracked down the entire length. I don't baby my kitenware but then I don't throw it around the room either. I'd pass this over and find something better.
