Mr. Charles Simonian, my fencing coach, has provided the world with a book with which those new to the sport of fencing can see good exercises, footwork, and positions. It is well illustated in examples. Read this if you're a beginner or are interested in the sport.

This book was never meant to be used as an in-depth fencing manual. If you are looking for a manual on the bare bones of foil fencing, this is it. The illustrations are adequate and the price makes it just right for the starting amateur or college student who wants to learn the rudiments. I feel this is the best choice for high school or college fencing instructors who wish to provide an inexpensive fencing text to supplement their curriculum

I used this book as a text for my introductory fencing courses, and I found it to be an excellent starting point for someone who hasn't had any experience in the sport. A good basic manual for stances, positions, offenses and defenses, as well as a good introduction to bouting and the rules of ocmpetition fencing.
