I tried this product as a replacement for the old Compton's Field Geology manual I purchased decades ago as a geology major. This compact volume appears to have all the necessary material to serve as a valuable field guide a student or professional can carry in their backpack or field bag. My desire to try this stems from a need to find a good guide to use in my Field Methods in Geology class at RPI. I'm certain this will be the required text for the class. It's worth the modest $30 +/- cost. Used ones should come down in price, though; they are not worth the slight price advantage versus a new volume.
