Book Description

August 15, 2000
A Basic Grammar Dictionary for Anyone is a unique and valuable dictionary of grammar terms that has been written for broad use by people from varying backgrounds. It explains basic grammar terms; it is easy to use, friendly, and non-authoritative in style. Examples are simple but realistic. There is an appendix filled with charts that help to show and explain many things in the English language. Many existing grammar dictionaries are written for those who are already well versed in the subject of grammar, this book is not. It was written for high school and college students, teachers who want a handy reference for their students, writers, editors, business people who wish to improve their business letters, English Language Learners who are trying to improve their use of the English Language and anyone who justs wants a better understanding of grammar.

This review is from: A Basic Grammar Dictionary for Anyone (Paperback)
One of the things that I really liked about this book was the author's style. She has written the book in a very understandable way. I can quickly find and understand what I need. It is also refreshing because she does not spend a lot of time or pages explaining any one thing.

I'm finding the book to be very helpful when I write for my assignments in school and also for my job.

This is probably the first dictionary that I have ever used where I did not spend hours trying to sort out what was being said. She has also provided excellent cross referencing which makes it easy for me to find and understand other grammar terms that may be related to the one I originally looked up.

I think her examples are great too. It is a unique book in that she put the examples before the explanation, which makes it really nice. So often, all I needed was the example.

I would recommend this book to anyone. It is something that you may not use everyday, but it is there when you need it!
