Book Description

February 2001 157524070X 978-1575240701
Conservatism has provided one of America's great traditions. From the colonial era through modern times it has helped to shape the issues, debates, and values that have defined national character and development. For the most part, however, only limited attention has been paid to the contours of this tradition. This book offers both a narrative and an analysis of American conservatism, and features an accompanying selection of pertinent documents for use in colleges and universities, as well as for interested general readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Succinct, thorough, accessible political history., March 22, 2002
This review is from: Basic History of American Conservatism (The Anvil Series) (Paperback)
Offering a succinct, thorough, and accessible survey and overview of conservative American political history, philosophy, movements, legislation, and personalities, Robert Muccigrosso's Basic History Of American Conservatism is a welcome and intelligible treatise ideal for both political science students and the non-specialist general reader with an interest in American national and regional politics. With its accessible and "reader friendly" text, the Basic History Of American Conservatism is a strongly recommended and timely addition to both school and community library reference collections, and would admirably serve as both a primary text for classroom curriculums, as well as American political science supplemental reading lists.
