Very basic, very concise,
By P. M. Isom (St. Louis, MO United States) - See all my reviews

I lost this book and am so happy to find it again. My first knitting instructor said this was the best book for beginners. I learned from it, and I struggle with knitting because I am left handed and right brained. I return to this book again and again. The pictures are so clear and easy to read. It's a slight book with the very basics, which is where any beginners needs to start in order to advance beyond the basics. The instructional pictures are priceless, and much easier to follow than any I've ever seen.

Great Reference Manual,
By A Customer
This review is from: Basic Knit (Full Color Illustrated) (Paperback)
Full color, clear, easy to understand illustrations of the basics. Small paperback fits easily in your knitting bag. I think it's great for people somewhere between beginner and advanced; those who know how to knit, but just haven't done enough of the less ordinary stitches to remember how to do them when they come across them in a pattern. I highly recommend it.

The best drawings ever,

This book is wonderfully concise and perfectly illustrated. If you need a quick reference for basic techniques, this is the best I've seen. I like it better than the other ones I own including Vogue Knitting (3-star), The Knitter's Handbook (5-star), and The Knitter's Book of Finishing Techniques (5-star).

Excellent Book for Intermediate Knitters,
By Apis Mellifera (Rapid City, SD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Basic Knit (Full Color Illustrated) (Paperback)
This is not a book to pick up and learn to knit; this book does not go over the basics. This book is for those who already know how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. Thanks to this book, I can finally do intarsia! And the stitch library is invaluable. I would highly recommend this book to knitters who want to expand their abilities, not those who want to learn to knit.

Best Visual Guide Ever!,

This review is from: Basic Knit (Full Color Illustrated) (Paperback)
I was first introduced to Japanese knitting graphics in the machine knitting publications "Nihon Vogue" and "ZaZa". They were so clear and concise, it didn't matter that I knew no Japanese! It's great that now handknitters, especially those who are visual learners have their own version. Most of my students ask how they can obtain their own copy.

Basic Knitting - Review,
By
This review is from: Basic Knit (Full Color Illustrated) (Paperback)
This is a good basic book for a new knitter -- or for someone teaching a child or other adult to knit. Experienced knitters might find it a bit simplistic, but it might be a handy addition to a knitting library.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Basic Knit (Full Color Illustrated) (Paperback)
I've not knitted much but enough to know that this book was no help. I thought it was extremely difficult to understand and follow the instructions. At times I felt like it was written in a foreign language or perhaps I was reading a foreign language. It did not help me at all.

Does not include basic information,

Basic Knit? This book assumes that everyone magically knows how to do every knitting technique imaginable. If you are a beginner, don't waste you're money on this book.
