Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

New for the Fourth Edition: * Comprehensive revision and updating as necessary * New section on magnetic resonance imaging * Additional material on monitoring depth of anesthesia * Descriptions of new apparatus, with the retention of information on older types of equipment where important for the demonstration of physical principles As in the previous editions, the authors clearly define the principles of clinical measurement. Mathematics are kept to a simple, understandable level with the frequent use of practical examples. Well established at the level between undergraduate teaching and advanced medical physics, this extensively illustrated book is for trainees and examination candidates in anesthesia and intensive care. Senior nursing, operating theatre and intensive care staff will also find it appropriate. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

4.0 out of 5 stars Anesthesia Specific Physics, May 12, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Basic Physics & Measurement in Anaesthesia, 5e (Paperback)
This book is like many physics book, hard to read. However, what makes it an excellent book is that the principals of physics are applied directly to anesthesia with examples. There is no other book out there which does a better job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Information, October 5, 2007
This review is from: Basic Physics & Measurement in Anaesthesia, 5e (Paperback)
This textbook is very deatiled in the explanations of the topics presented and uses many images and figures to help give a visual representation of the material.

4.0 out of 5 stars a bit hard to read so review basic physics and chem first, June 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Basic Physics & Measurement in Anaesthesia, 5e (Paperback)
This book was required for my anesthesia class (nurse anesthesia school) so I had to buy it. At first, I literally was falling asleep trying to read it--very scientific, technical and has black & white illustrations only. However, it became more tolerable to read and the book actually does give very specific examples of concepts (anesthesia stuff), and I'm realizing the to-the-point style that it is written (that's why I'd recommend reviewing college physics first). Another great thing about the book is its size. Much smaller than your average college textbook so can be carried in medium sized purses!
