Book Description

Inside of this book are explanations to the
basics of Lua Programming. ROBLOX Lua is the language of an online game known as ROBLOX. This book will certainly not turn you into ROBLOX's best game creator over-night but it will start you on your journey to a successful ROBLOX experience.

As you progress through this book you will face a pattern of the content inside each chapter. Most often you will complete a tutorial and then have a chapter of explanalions related to either the chapter you had just finished, or the upcoming chapter.

By the end of this book you should be familiar with the ROBLOX Studio. You should also be able to complete basic scripts with the knowledge of the format of scripts. I do not expect you to be ROBLOX's best programmer, but you will know the basic necessities to begin a successful time in ROBLOX.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good for later use April 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
My son plays this game and he has built many amazing buildings and statues but he never really knew how to script, I let him take a read through this and only a few days later he made a working real time clock and daylight setting.

This is great for starting children for a world of programming and design and if your child loves video games Roblox is great for mking friends and doing group projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the components April 3, 2012
By Red
Format:Kindle Edition
I am 11 and have played Roblox for a couple of years. You have gone through a lot of details in that book, although I only read a sample. I really think you did a good job. This shows me more about how to script. I know how to set a timer and make things explode. The sample told me how to set up a game. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but some errors May 11, 2012
By Toni
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book is good, but has some errors in the code. If it had not been for my previous scripting experience, I would probably not have understood what was wrong with the script. But overall it is good, which earns it a 4/5

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs serious editing January 29, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Kudos to the kid who wrote this book -- he is one smart kid, that's for sure. And on the positive side, the book goes through the various elements of Roblox and has examples that can be followed with some success. But the book is in serious need of editing. It is full of typos, grammatical and syntactic errors, is hard to follow and poorly organized. The figures, which are basically just screen dumps, are of poor quality and are not numbered or organized in a way that is connected to the text. The overall layout is dreary and dull and detracts from the content. While there is definitely a need for a book like this, I don't think anyone will be particularly excited about Roblox programming after reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, outdated examples. August 10, 2014
By Kyle
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Its a great book, indeed, really teaches people the basics and is easy to understand, great for kids to get into scripting.

There is one con about this book:
The examples are outdated, ROBLOX updated some stuff.

Not quite done with the book yet, hope to finish it soon :)
