Book Description

Harlequin Blaze March 1, 2006

She wants him to what? That's Marine Corps captain Travis McCormick's reaction when his old friend Tess Bartlett asks for basic training in sex. He's back in his hometown to recover from injuries and is glad that sweet, easy-to-talk-to Tess will be his physiotherapist. But the last thing he expects is that she'll ask for a trade: she'll heal him if he'll bed her!

Turns out inexperienced Tess wants to explore her sexual side. Travis is happy to comply--she's incredibly desirable and doesn't even know it. But when a fellow marine sets his sights on Travis's new recruit, he realizes that sexually liberating Tess may have been a tactical error. And he'll need all his seductive skills to make sure she's signing up for a permanent post in his bed--and no one else's!

4.0 out of 5 stars terrific contemporary military romance, March 4, 2006
This review is from: Basic Training (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
In Ashton, Virginia physical therapist, Tess Bartlett asks her long time friend Marine Corps captain Travis McCormick, who is on leave recovering from injuries, for a favor. She wants him to teach her basic sex training and advanced boudoir maneuvers. The courageous marine thought he could handle anything, but her enlisting him shakes him to his core.

She even barters with him. She will help with his recovery by providing him physical therapy if he trains her on sex therapy. Travis reconsiders his old buddy who is a beautiful desirable woman and decides he is the man for the job especially when an enemy sets his sights on destroying any relationship between Travis and Tess. What he does not know is that Tess selected him because she loves him and figures seduction with him as her drill instructor is her best strategy to win the campaign for his heart.

BASIC TRAINING is a terrific contemporary military romance starring two likable protagonists whom the audience will want to find their way to each other. The story line is superb when Tess maneuvers her beloved into scenarios that he suddenly finds he wants to take that hill. The relatively late suspense is cleverly devised but actually takes away from a delightful tale of a strategic planning female carrying out her operation to win the heart of her beloved marine.

I enjoyed the story very much especially when read with the two books that go in the series. Major attraction, basic training and then at your command.

5.0 out of 5 stars ROMANTIC TIMES BOOKClub says..., February 24, 2006
This review is from: Basic Training (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Physical therapist Tess Bartlett welcomes Marine hero Travis McCormick home after a devastating accident. She is a good friend, forever the tomboy-next-door in his eyes, and Travis has no idea that she has always loved him. He is determined to rejoin his special-ops unit in two weeks, when he suddenly sees Tess in an entirely new light. But one of his old enemies is determined to ruin his career and his relationship with Tess. BASIC TRAINING (4 1/2), by Julie Miller, has a heartbreakingly real heroine, which leaves you hoping for her happiness. Humor and suspense elements are also well developed.
