Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy (1 Corinthians 14:1-3). I really desire the gift of prophesy. Kris Vallotton has walked in this gift most of his life and has communicated it in a very practical and understanding way in this book. If you, too, desire this gift then this book would definitely be a good choice. Each chapter ends with questions to ponder and life applications to try/practise. Very helpful and inspiring.

If you are looking for a simple and basic Bible Study on the Prophetic Ministry than this is a good place to start. Kris Volloton touches the very basics in this book and gives an overview of what the prophetic is all about. If you know nothing about the prophetic than get this Bible Study. If you are looking for more indepth and "meat" you should look for another book by Kris.

You'll be surprised by how "meaty" this short trainer's book is. It's not just head knowledge, it's training for the Prophetic "Ministry" - a training where you can turn and minister unto the Lord. I guarantee that you'll be edified and receive fresh revelation as you study Kris' teaching. All you need is a humble, hungry heart and a willingness to learn from someone who actually lives out what they preach. Kris adds encounter stories of the impact of the spirit of prophecy upon his church, school, and ministry at Bethel Church in Redding, CA. They're truly incredible and encouraging. There's also a Life Application section at the end of each chapter so that your training doesn't just end with this book but it can be applied to your life (from dreams to hearing God's voice to discerning spirits to seeing the "gold" in people...)

Some of my friends are attending the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry and have reported great transformations in their lives as they take their training out into the streets (it's just like when Jesus sent out the disciples two-by-two after years of hiddeness and just listening and learning from Him). Our small group is currently half way done with this book and are preparing to apply it in our community. It's time to be AWAKENED -- Don't you want to be a part of what God has intended for this generation? I sure do.

This book was not like other books I've gone through. "You will know them by their fruit." Well, this book has lead me and others I know into the gift of prophecy in operation... good fruit. It's amazing! Check it out.

As a Christian believer I am interested in discovering everything Jesus has for us. God wants all Christian believers to prophesy, yet a large number of Christians don't know much about the prophetic ministry today or their knowledge is not clear enough to live a prophetic lifestyle and bring a blessing to the local Church.I wanted to know not only about the prophetic but also how I can actually do what God wants me to do. I read this book by Kris Vallotton--Basic Training for the Prophetic Ministry. I read it on Thanksgiving evening(2008) and could not put it down for many hours--I finished it in one setting. I learnt lots of things which I believe are not only useful for those who feel a calling in the prophetic ministry but also every Christian in the world today.I want to read this book at least three times. I would recommend all Pastors to read this book so that they can build congregations where hearing God's voice becomes the norm and prophesying is expected and practiced.You will begin to see men and women with new eyes. You will fall in love with the prophetic.If ever you were disappointed by "prophetic" people or prophetic words, here's your chance to encounter an authentic prophetic voice. you will weep tears of joy as you gain new insights and your life changes in very short time. Don't fall short of your Divinely appointed prophetic destiny !

This book can be used, page-for-page, to train people in basic prophetic ministry. It takes the position that the prophetic is not strictly for a few elite and specially gifted people, but that any believer can learn to exercise the gift for profitably (pun intended; sorry!).

But the book is perhaps more useful as a guide, a resource, for prophetically gifted individuals to train others prophetically: it works well to use this book as an outline for discussion, as a reference book for unusual questions, and as a comfort that others have encountered these challenges and overcome them.

Mr. Vallotton is not afraid to look at unusual spiritual and prophetic experiences and learn from them, and his questions for discussion are both thought-provoking and practical.

Get the book and use it.

The teaching in this book is so straightforward and easy to understand and yet so profound. Vallotton has a real talent for communicating. The manual contains some amazing teaching on the gift of prophecy and the role of a prophet in the body of Christ and makes it easy for us to engage and discover our own prophetic potential.

If you are unfamiliar with the prophetic and what the Bible teaches on this subject this is an amazing introductory tool and I cannot recommend it highly enough. And if you think you know your stuff it is a great refresher tool, will increase your gifting and remind you of some foundational principles for using it responsibly.

This book is about basic training for Prophetic Ministry. I believe it to be a great tool for this time and day, written from he trenches of great experience.

Absorb this book and what it can teach you then get ready to come out of your comfort zone and let what the Holy Spirit has to say be spoken through you.

GREAT basic manual for learning prophetic ministry. Only wish two things were added: 1) the levels/functioning of the prophet. John Sanford talks about 12 of these. 2) On the chapter regarding etiquette, some basics such as remember to use breath mints, watch your dress (no low cut necks for women), etc... Otherwise a fabulous book!

My husband and I went through this book and have no complaints. It is set up as a workbook for individuals or groups, for adults and children. The teaching is profound yet as with most things from Bethel, easy to understand. I recommend this book if you need some teaching on the prophetic and some practical steps to take right away.
