About the Author

Dong Wenyu, born in Ningan County, Heilongjiang Province in 1948, works in the Chinese Wushu Research Institute. She is a member of the Beijing Wushu Association and a national Wushu judge.

At the age of eight, she began practising Wushu under the personal guidance of Wushu Master, Song Zhiping in Beijing. She has learned Hua Quan (flower boxing) and the use of broadsword, spear, sword, cudgel and short-hilt double halberds. She took preparatory courses at the Beijing Institute of Physical Culture, from which she graduated in 1969. In 1973 she became a Wushu teacher in the Xicheng District Spare-Time Sports School. In 1986 she won the "Lion Prize" at the National. Meeting of Wushu Exhibition and Exchange
