Same old topics from other SAP books and documentation covered again in light fashion. Touches on most Basis topics but does not go in-depth on any of them. The Oracle portion was verbose but extremely weak in detail, not to mention it was seriously outdated and straight from old SAP documents that are no longer used.

If you've taken the SAP courses or have access to the SAP online doc, you don't need this book

I don't usually leave comments on books I've purchased through Amazon or anywhere else, but I felt compelled to do so on this one. Not only did I gain a good understanding of SAP Basis Administration, but the first hand knowledge shared from the author who's been there - done that, was very helpful. The hints and tips gained from this book will go into my own personal "cookbook" for sure. Nice work, for once I feel like I got my money's worth.

I've been doing Basis Admin work for over 5 years now, and thought I knew just about all there was too know about it. This book showed me some hints and tips I never even thought of, and you can bet I'll use them in my job. Finally, a book written by someone who's been there and done it, and not by a professional writer who's never even touched SAP. Good work Robert!

This books provides overview to the routine Basis Adminstration. Personally, I think it is useful for Basis Administrators but not so for Basis Consultants. The book lacks width and depth.

This book offers great technical advice to any basis administrator. I really like the emphasis placed in the book on performance tuning as well as the focus of Oracle-specific administration issues. The tips offered in the book are highly practical and of great benefit. This important book should be at the desk of any basis administrator who supports SAP R/3 on an Oracle platform!

How many more books with the same content can this market take? For some reason, I thought I needed this book to add to all the others in my collection, but after reading it I wish I had my money back. It's not *bad*, but it's got the same stuff as the R/3 Documentation CD and nothing really new or innovative to add. Let's all save our $, and perhaps eventually publishers will commission a book that tells us something we don't already know.

I have found this book to be a great addition to my collection of books on SAP. The author's hands on approach is a welcome change to other "how to" books on the market today. I highly recommend it.

I am new to this field. I bought this book and I thought It can help me in creating client and users. But after going thru all the Chapter I could not create even a single user successfully. This book covers most of the parts but it does not cover in depth

The book is good. It's based mainly on UNIX and Oracle. You can only use a quarter of the book if you are using NT/SQL.

Most of the book is okay. The chapter on Correction and Transport is a big mess. It doesn't tell you how to use the TMS in detail. Try creating transport routes using the book. The documentation in SAP is much more clear.
